Riverpaw is the kit of Cloverdawn, and his brother is Leafkit. Sadly though, Cloverdawn and Leafkit died in the fire, leaving poor Riverkit alone.
He became friends with Barepaw after the fire, after she promised herself to protect him. Though, one day on a patrol, Riverpaw tripped and fell off the gorge. Breaking a few bones, and drowning in the lake below. Another cat followed along when they tried to save him, Kestrelclaw, but they sadly also died.
Riverpaw was Barepaw's failed attempt to protect someone, and his death is affected Barepaw a LOT in the book (as well as her brother Spikepaw)
Another thing too, Riverpaw is half brothers with Jaggedface. Jaggedface is the cat that got so traumatized from the fire, to the point where after his warrior ceremony, he mysteriously went missing.
