RMV Tutorial #03: RTP Interior/Rooms (SF Edition)

Check article for Tutorial info!

Heya, Rousseau here, Back at it again with some tips and tricks and a step-by-step tutorial! for this one it's for interior room designs (RTP), so have you ever wondered why your room looks so empty and dreadful, like there is an entire room that is just filled with empty spaces? Well it's probably because you're rushing to get your project done or it's just plain ASS!

Let's look at an example here, so you'll know what I'm talking about.

Honestly this is good for just a bedroom, just scale it down a bit then you're all good. Bit of an exaggerated example, but eh... you get the point.

Sure, rooms like the bedrooms are usually square, but every house has its own unique shape, not just the rooms themselves.

Let's say we want to design a crime scene! so we need to make the the main floor of a house, which includes a living room, a hallway for connection, a dining room, a restroom, and maybe a bedroom—basically a bungalow or an apartment.

So let's make an interior design...!

map007.png

First, let's focus on the hallway. This will help us plan and predict the foundation for what we’re building, yes? Nothing too fancy, just a space where people or players can walk through the most.

Now let's carve out some rooms, let's start on the left—it can probably be the dining room or something else...

map007.png

That looks 100 times better doesn't it?
Don't be shy and carve out the rest of the other side...

map007.png

Foundation's done! But do you ever worry that the rooms might seem repetitive? Like in the image above, where every room is still a square—it's fine, but if you want to switch things up, you can make one room smaller and another bigger. It's all up to you!

In this case, I decided to make some rooms from the right and at the middle a little smaller so it can at least have some variety...

map007.png

Now that we have the rooms done, we simply have to decorate it however you please. Of course you decide which room is where.
Oh yes, of course we're not gonna stick to this style, we're using a different design! Something with a charming elegance...

map007.png

Better, we use different flooring and different walls so it would make sense for the rooms we would add the furniture in.
It's all up to you to decorate your stuff! Surely RTP offers quite enough materials for your furniture and other things you need for building...

map007.png

Now isn't that lovely? You just made an elegant little house! Quite of an eye-candy for me. Hope this tutorial does wonders for many map makers for RPG Maker! At this point of the tutorial, you're now finished, just add a couple more events them boom you just got yourself one fantastic map!

Oh yeah-- I wanna wreck the place. I wanted to make a crime scene after all...

map007.png

I may have caused a crime scene here... let's make it more darker shall we? You don't have to do this really, but if you want, simply tint the screen darker.

Now I'll just have to add a little bit more effects and atmosphere...

I feel bad for the kid, anyways that's it for interior designs, please don't make a very spacious room.

Hopefully this serves as a good tip, get creative!
