RTG - The Ray-Traced Game: arcade/puzzle game in development which uses 'software ray-tracing' technology.

Hi All!

Second RTG animation after a break. They're showcasing one new game element: "the charged light shooter".

(copy-pasted from previous post)

With it, you can turn switches or call elevators on distance, however you must reach given switch or elevator by shooting the 'light bullet'. And here's the catch. Most of the time, it's not straightforward how to reach an elevator you need to call or a switch you need to switch. :)

'Light bullet' after shooting is bouncing from all walls, floors, ceilings, boxes, etc.. You can point your shot and set its initial shoot velocity. There's some dampening, so it will not fly and bounce to infinity. You'll have to check the environment around you and most of the time you'll have to also modify it, so you'll be able to reach your target by shooting light bullet.

So, there's puzzle element to it (how to reach that damn switch?) but also semi-arcade element as with all that bouncing, it's like playing pool ( or maybe some weird ray-traced version of Angry birds ), as you'll need to be precise at aiming and setting right speed for your bullet.

Apart of that, a big chunk of levels built around that mechanics is done (8 levels in total from the last update).

Dev Flashback - Nov '21 #3 End of 2021 was very productive in RTG development. After "charged light shooters", I implemented "gravity inverters", great mechanics with lot of potential for new puzzles. Here's small showcase. https://store.steampowered.com/app/4032050/RTG

RTG Dev Flashback - Nov '21 #2 Another level with "charged light shooters". I can say, that's around this level when game's difficulty spikes up. After 20-30 levels of quite light puzzles, the game will start challenging even skilled puzzle players.

Mae Borowski is the main character of Night in the Woods! It's an adventure game that tells the story of her return to her hometown of Possum Springs. She was confirmed as canonically pan in a social media post by the game's creator Scott Benson.

RTG Dev Flashback - July 2022 "Deadly bouncing lights" was the last gameplay mechanics I added to the game. They opened possibilities of more action levels although I invented many interesting puzzles involving them as well. https://store.steampowered.com/app/4032050/RTG

Dev Flashback - Jan '22 Another flashback! In January 2022, I had majority of puzzles already done. Despite that, big amount of work was still before me (80/20 rule). In animation you can see one of later levels in the game. https://store.steampowered.com/app/4032050/RTG

RTG Flashback - April 2021 #3 One year after the start of works on RTG, finally I was creating levels one by one. This is another level involving "carriable boxes". Here, I used some mirrors to show off my engine a bit more. https://store.steampowered.com/app/4032050/RTG
