Should I keep the pixel grid or remove it?

I have a pixel grid on the games screen, as shown in the pictures. The grid isn’t aligned with the pixels, and its size and color are off. What do you think? Does it add to the aesthetic, or is it distracting?

Mae Borowski is the main character of Night in the Woods! It's an adventure game that tells the story of her return to her hometown of Possum Springs. She was confirmed as canonically pan in a social media post by the game's creator Scott Benson.

I’ve been working on the menu, and creating jump scares, more info is included in the article. I’m not so sure about Siren’s jump scare. I like the idea of her pulling the player close, but I’m not sure if it works as a jump scare. What do you think?
