So many buildings, which to put? Where to put? What do they even do? Do they need to be in level 3? Those and other answers are about to be... answered.

Explaining the buildings:

Everyone knows the Engineer as the dude whose only purpose in existence is to build stuff and upgrade it to level 3. However it's not exactly like that. As we saw in my previous guide (if you haven't seen it here's a link to it) the Engineer does more than building stuff, though that will always be his main function, so let's learn about the things he builds shall we?

The buildings are an extra layer of support for your team, with the sentry gun as an extra fire power source, the dispenser as a health and ammo source, and the teleporter as a way to get to the front lines faster. All of the Engineer's buildings can be upgraded to level 3, and so they become more effective.

Let's talk about each building in specific.

Sentry Gun:

The sentry gun as I said, is a little help for your team to take down enemies, however be aware that a sentry gun isn't: 1-A damage sponge, 2-A Sniper, so it can't placed neither too close neither too far from the action. In control points or payload maps, for instance, it is advisable to build the sentry gun in a spot where it can see and defend the point. They will most likely be Spies' main target so turn up your volume and be aware of uncloacking sounds.

It costs 130 metal to be built.

Each level costs 200 metal to be upgraded.

In its first level, the sentry gun shoots 4 bullets per second and has 150 HP. (Each bullet deals 16 damage)

In its second level, the sentry gun shoots 8 bullets per second and has 180 HP.

In its third level, the sentry gun still shoots 8 bullets per second, but also shoots rockets every 3 seconds and has 216 HP. (Rockets deal between 50 and 150 damage)

Dispenser:

The dispenser is a very important building, it gives health and ammo to your teammates so make sure you place it in the front lines and in a spot hidden from enemy fire.

It costs 100 metal to be built.

Each level costs 200 metal to be upgraded.

A level 1 dispenser is more than enough to keep your team alive, however, you can perfectly upgrade it if you want.

There aren't really much differences in the dispenser's different levels.

In its first level it provides health and ammo, and to Engineers it provides 40 metal per second.

In its second level it provides health and ammo faster, and to Engineers it provides 50 metal per second.

In its third level it provides health and ammo even faster, and to Engineer's it provides 60 metal per second.

A level 1 dispenser has 150 HP, a level 2 has 180 HP and a level 3 has 216 HP.

Teleporter:

The teleporter is mostly important on offense, it allows your teammates to get to the front lines faster.

Both entrance and exit cost 50 metal to be built.

Each level costs 200 metal to be upgraded.

There are no visible differences in the teleporters when they are upgraded. They will always look the same.

A level 1 teleporter has a 10 second cooldown and has 150 HP.

A level 2 teleporter has a 5 second cooldown and has 180 HP.

A level 3 teleporter has a 3 second cooldown and has 216 HP.

Final Notes:

Here are some things you need to know:

  • You can change the direction a building is looking at by clicking the right mouse button while you are holding it. This is mostly useful with teleporter exits, their blueprints even have an arrow indicating where your teammates will be looking at after they exit the teleporter.

  • By right clicking a building that is already built, you can carry it around, be aware that you can't attack while carrying a building and you will also walk slower.

  • Try placing your sentries in places where your enemy can't hit them, but it can hit your enemies. Of course this won't be always possible, make sure it also covers the maximum amount of entrances/exits to the room where it is. And if there is a control point/payload cart make sure it can aim in that direction

  • Note for scout players (looks at @spindlyyoshi): please only use teleporters when nobody is around, you are literally the fastest class in the game.

  • Sentries aren't only used for defense, you can place a sentry in a hidden spot to help your teammates take down some defenses.

  • A common mistake made by new Engineers is to keep the dispenser for themselves. Don't do this.

And so we come to the end of another guide, hope this helps you, and see you tomorrow with the next guide "Spies".
