State of Affairs — HOMESICKNESS

Hello there, Game Jolters!

This is mostly gonna be a very raw post for whoever's interested in whatever I've been working on as of late. This is something I've pretty much postponed making, as I just don't tend to post a lot of stuff overall regarding what I make until it's actually close to being ready to show. But I thought it would be cool to show off what I have been "cooking" even if unfinished.

As of recently, I've poured a decent amount of time into a pretty much completely original project, unlike other stuff I've made over the years. This project's gonna be posted on itch.io pretty much until it is full-on ready, so the main audience for it is gonna be there. I plan to release the page for it right off the bat, once it's ready. No waiting for updates or anything like that; the page is gonna be posted alongside the game when it's ready. Though this may change based on what my plans end up being. I do have a couple of things planned to get this places, but we will see how good that goes.

It's heavily reminiscent of early 2000s media, aiming to explore the aesthetics of it in my own way. Not solely the aesthetics, but also the general atmosphere, aiming to tell a story with it. A lot of the writing is fully planned out. I've taken a lot of time with this to make sure it is not solely based on other media, but has my spin on it as well.

I plan to show off more of it over time. This is something I plan to take my time with to make sure it is as polished as I can make it, so for now it's a whole wait kind of thing.

Hope you enjoy! I have a lot planned for this, and here's to hoping I can get somewhere with it. It's only me developing this project, so it will take sometime. I've received good reception for it so far; let's just hope and see where this all goes.

More updates soon.

Silent Hill 4: The Room is 20 years old today.

Though this game is very flawed, I really appreciate a lot of the themes it explored.

The metaphors for social isolation and a variety of other topics resonate with me.

The OST is great too. Love Yamaoka!
