The Deltaverse Engine has been in the works for around half a year now, and with every week it inches closer to be release ready, we just finished battles this month!
It started off as a small, rigid engine for two deltarune fangames, that being Deltarune: Chapter Gamma (by Modtro64) and The Wacky Project (by Me and Floagan) but I've quickly realized that I could make it more modular and turn it into an easy base for everyoen to be able to make their fangames! And I think so far I've been accomplishing that goal.
From our new DS-Map driven Items, Enemies, Encounters, Party Members (Literally Everything) to our newly revamped Battle system which allows for you to quickly swap out the whole battle, TP Bar, Soul Objects with a simple Global Variable within encounters, I think I've achieved a lot in the way of making a truly unique engine that will hopefully be worthy to be used by a lot of people when it releases in 2026 (more info on that below).
Despite this engine being relatively small community wise, I still hope that many people will discover and use this engine once it releases.
Now that we've got all this boring stuff out of the way, I can get to something actually interesting.
Talking about a Release date
For a while now, I've been thinking of a release structure for the engine and its officially supported set of Libraries. Below will be a list of Libraries that will be officially supported within the engine, and released throughout the next two years.
Starting off..
There will obviously be the full release of the Engine, with all core systems, this being Overworld Mechanics, Battles, Shops, etc. But alongside it I will also release Libraries that implements all of Deltarune Chapter 1 and 2's Items, Armors and Weapons into the Game, aswell as a Library that Implements all of Deltarune's Party Members. All of this will be released sometime within the first half of 2026.
As soon as possible after this release, I plan on releasing Libraries that add all of Deltarune Chapter 3 and 4's Items to the game.
In the background I will also be working on Libraries for the Green and Yellow Souls from Deltarune, including all of their mechanics and some extra stuff to make using them easier. These will presumably be released around two months after the Engine's release.
Depending on when Chapter 5 releases, there will be a Library for its items released as soon as possible (2 weeks or so is my estimation). If it adds a new soul mode, that will also be worked on and released.
Then.. For the big Library that will be worth waiting for, I will be making multiple Libraries that implement UNDERTALE's battle systems, save mechanics, among other stuff like items and soul modes. This will most definitely happen in 2027, meaning it is still a long road until then, but I hope you will all be there to witness that happening.
Moving Forward
I hope that this engine keeps growing into something truly special, and I hope to see many fangames using this engine in the future.
