The Fazbear Tabletop Engine - early announcement post


Hello and welcome to the first ever post from the Fazbear Tabletop Engine team!

You've stumbled across this game's page and you might be wondering "how has this been announced out of the blue, with no previous warnings or in any fangame direct?", which is a fair question given we hadn't told anyone (other than team members and collaborators) about this project yet. Due to an unforeseen event which gave me (the director and programmer) a soft deadline to announce this game's existence, we had to rush out the announcement, hence why some assets might be recolours of others (most notably some of the squares on the board). Other than that, we've made sure the game's screenshots represent the final version of the game with not many changes left to make.

Speaking of the game itself, how's the progress as of now? Well, for a game that's just been announced, it's going surprisingly solid! There's an alpha version of it already playable through local versus (which is also suited for pseudo-online play through Discord and other screensharing platforms). We're aiming for the final version to have online play, though both players should trust in each other, since the game's highly modifyable nature means changing the game's files to balance it in favour of one of the players (i.e. making the animatronics faster, or increasing the night guard's available energy) means cheating will be relatively easy.

Other than that, there isn't much left to say. I'm planning to make a deep dive into the game's mechanics whenever I'm able to (I'm usually busy with both real life and some other projects, specially Mega Man Arena, a fangame to which I contribute to) but, for now, that's all I can say. Expect a sizeable devlog in two to three weeks, and remember to comment in case you have questions!
