The Story of Naryunos- Part One

Hello.

If you've been playing through this game, especially around Willow Town, you might have heard of a character named Naryunos. She's not supposed to appear in-game, beyond little effigies of her. She is part of a story in-game, and as such, her story influences the land of Trula.

Depending on who you talk to the story either originated from Trula or Sierr. It's hard to tell which, but Trula adopted it, and somebody named themselves Sigurdson to become King of Trula, because of this story. Also, the people of Trula perceive this as a tale of true love, and the name Trula is derived from that term.

However, the people of Trula do not have the whole story, since the events of the whole story were more or less irrelevant, beyond the "true love" stuff.

Long ago, far away, before humans ruled the earth, a dragon and fairy fell in love, and gave birth to Naryunos, the Einhorn Nymph. To the rest of the fairies and dragons in the world, she was an abomination to look at. To her parents, she was the most wonderous thing in existence. To humans, she looked almost human, except for the angel wings, unicorn horn, and her long hair of pure gold.

Naryunos grew to a point where she could grow no older (about her 20s). She was curious about the human world, so she fashioned some clothing out of her golden hair, and visited them. The people there thought she was a rich girl, and many people lusted after her... gold. So, she flew away.

She visited the humans again, and met a blacksmith. The blacksmith told her that her hair was made of pure gold, that it could be melted down, and that it was a valuable substance. The blacksmith told her that there are many people who would take advantage of her kindness if they were given the chance. So, her hair was cut, made into coins, and the blacksmith received a third of the gold.

Three years later, she attempted to revisit the blacksmith. However, that blacksmith died of old age, and his apprentice ran the place instead. It came as a shock to her, since she never understood death, much less aging. For his troubles, she paid off the blacksmith's debts with her head of hair.

As the decades passed, even her parents died. Her parents aged, but not she. She remained young and beautiful, and her hair grew long enough to cover a small island. She was all alone, with no home to call her own. However, she did know that humans knew how to build buildings out of stone.

Naryunos asked the new blacksmith to make gold bricks out of her hair. It took a few years, but eventually, she had enough gold bricks to build a castle, and to pay off the workers. The building took a lot longer, with theft problems, more hair growth, and how heavy gold was. Naturally, Naryunos was used to the weight, so she helped out with building her own castle.

When her castle was complete, her hair was completely short. She was still lonely, but she didn’t care. She had a home.

Somehow, I don't think now's a good time to share the other half. Most of the people in Trula are more familiar with the other half.

However, it's not the entire story. We'll continue this later.

I hope you appreciate what I go through for pointless details like this.

I don't plan on going this crazy too much, though.

He's coming back. ...but just this once.

If there's going to be a save feature in my game, I might as well give the players their own kind of Level Select so they can replay it any way they want.

I know I should work on that boss, but still...

Now going through the animation process. This could take a while.

It's kind of a wonder how Treasure managed to pull a front-facing boss moving sideways at least twice.

The next update may be full of bugs.

...moths, mostly.

It's getting closer to being finished.

Even though the 2.5D gimmick was only for that one level, I see no reason to not use it for this boss fight.

One of the bonus stages will be a top-down stage where you try to stop the Demolition robots from smashing the summer home.

...but I don't know whether or not failing a bonus stage should "count". I think the worst bonus stages in gaming are mandatory.

I'm getting close in the rigging department. I might need to adjust how the shoulders work, but it's getting there.

Welcome to Space.

...not much going on here, is there?

I realize some players just want to play the game and see the story, while others may actually want to use those revival items, so here's a little compromise for you all.

Also, yes, I NEED to put on that "Pro" flag everywhere.
