Some changes are going to happen soon, but do not fret! The game will stay majorly the same. We're doing a sort of overhaul at the moment and so we're adjusting some things to reflect that, hopefully, you all will agree these changes will be for the best!

In order to unlock the power of a Shrine, you must collect 3 'Souls' from your dead corpses! (the floating blue orbs)
