Ashley's an alicorn of Truth/Justice, mainly for the giggles and I think that what she did to the Funland probably triggered her 'ascension' so to speak, as it was an act of getting justice and closure for those who'd been wronged.

She learned how to use magic out of pure spite due to the fact Lucas has hands and she doesn't, she's not thrilled to be stuck in "girly horse land".

Her coat colour is inspired by her security guard outfit, of course her hair stayed the same colour but I let her wear her casual outfit from the game. The charcoal coloured socks is supposed to represent how she torched the Funland by essentially "taking justice into her own hands in order to free those wronged "so to speak. Plus, according to her official art, she has freckles, so I added some dappling/spots on her coat in places on her wings, back and face.

Her mark represents truth and justice, taking the form of the scales of justice as well as being inspired by the Egyptian myth of the afterlife. Where Anubis would weigh your heart against a feather of truth to see if you had done enough good deeds in order to enter the afterlife.

Lucas (OC) is a weird chimera like thing because since he's lived several lives and remembers all of them, all the features from those lives got mixed up. He can fly and use magic like a unicorn can, flying is like the dragons do in Raya and the Last Dragon in that he creates solid footfalls made from pure magic to run on air.

His magic either lightens or darkens in different shades of gold depending on what magic he uses but his most useful talents are lightning, illusions and the Soul Embodiment summoning.

He's a bit more optimistic about the entire thing and is just glad to have a physical form again. He can often be found flying with Ashley, sharing all the gossip, or roughhousing with her like siblings do (they see one another as siblings). Still has a massive sweet tooth but misses his adoptive father (Haiden) something fierce.

His cutie mark just represents the fact that he's been reborn many times (Celtic symbol of life, death and rebirth), as well as the fact has crossed worlds (Yggdrasil tree in Norse mythology).

Lake and Haiden are both full grown alicorns (Ashley is still young so she doesn't have the mane aura) and they're married in this Au by the time they meet back up with Lucas and Ashley.

Lake's mane aura is supposed to look like the void of space whereas Haiden's looks like molten lava/slag/rock/flames. Lake's talent is tied into his status as the head mascot of the Funland as well as the fact he's the de facto boss, he can also use various forms of darker magics (void/abyssal/demonic/blood/etc) without getting corrupted by negative emotions. Haiden's talent is tied into the arts and theatre but also the Egyptian ankh with symbolises life in Egyptian mythology (tied to him "coming to life" due to exposure to Lucas and various other supernatural stuff) as well as a stylised Ouroboros (like in Fullmetal Alchemist) to represent a talent in Alchemy, thought the crown and flame represents the fact that his talent is also fire in its purest form (which means he can use and be immune to any sort of fire... like solar fire).

Lake and Haiden were sent back in time 900 years before Celestia banished Luna/Nightmare Moon and ended up establishing their own empire by complete accident via helping an archipelago in the midst of a civil war. They were named the kingdoms Emperors and thanks to their knowledge they advanced technology way beyond what we see in present day G4 Equestria, bringing great prosperity and safety to their subjects.

They named this Archipelago Empire of theirs Thalassa Njord (map coming soon) and became known as the Twin Heavenly Emperors due to accounts of their arrival being akin to "falling from the heavens". Lake is known as the Heavenly Abyss Emperor while Haiden is known as the Heavenly Flame Emperor.

They ruled sternly but wisely for a hundred years, never seeking war but always being ready for it. Lake negotiating deals with the other kingdoms on their boarders (demon magic making it easier to make these deals ironclad, even nearly two thousand years later they’re still binding) and Haiden overseeing technological and magical advancement. They also used their magical gifts to better the kingdom; Lake being the go to for disputes and judgement as he was fair yet strict, Haiden being the one to go to for inspiration and knowledge as he loved experimenting with various things, from magic to baking ingredients.

Though nothing good lasts forever and because of their powerful magics, more primal in nature than the Sun and Moon itself, some species (they welcomed all races, not just ponies) began to feel threatened. It culminated in a nasty coup d’état that eventually saw the kingdoms downfall as both Lake and Haiden were sealed in stone as they were too powerful to be killed.

As a last spiteful act, against the subjects who betrayed them, the two cast a spell that caused their entire kingdom to crumble into ruin. Engulfed into the seas abyss and the fires of a volcano (as the kingdom used geothermal energy as well as other forms of clean energy like tidal power or wind farms to power itself), but preserving it all through the two Emperor’s magic so that when they awakened their kingdom would return with them.

Only a few loyal families, from all species, got away and live in secret among others of their kind. All of them with the solemn duty of finding a way to revive their Emperors.

However, since history is written by the victors, Lake and Haiden were made out to be monsters due to their more primal focused magics and abilities. Even though they just want what's best for their subjects and also want their children back. They consider Ashley and Lucas their children due to a combination of factors; Haiden already bonded with Lucas since he possessed him for thirty years and they learned to work with one another, with Lake some of Harlan's feeling bled into his own so he became attached to Ashley as a daughter. So together, after much talking, they consider Ashley and Lucas their kids and dote on them as a result (Ashley doesn't know how to feel about this, Lucas doesn't really care as he was an orphan before he died and possessed Haiden).
