Update 1 (v1.02)


Hello everyone, welcome to update #1 of Paintball. This update fixes a few things and adds some as well.

Changelog (v 1.02):

-Added pause menu. You can access it by pressing “escape” and can access things such as the settings. The quit button doesn’t do anything right now, however the settings menu has quite a few options.

Mouse sensitivity, a highly requested feature now is in the game with a scale of 0.1-10.

Render path changes the render path. Reflective surfaces only work on deffered.

Texture size changes the size of the textures.

Shadow quality changes things such as shadow distance, resolution, cascades and shadow types.

Image effect quality is pretty self explanatory. It controls how many effects are enabled, currently it does not change the quality of them (for example having ambient occlusion on high and very high won’t change the quality, it will just enable it), and it just toggles them on and off.

These all save and will be the same the next time you open the game.

-Bot changes

They now use something I call a “linear waypoint system”, where they will only go to waypoints on the enemy’s side of the map. This means bots will stop sitting in their spawn.

They react to player chat, depending on what you say they will respond differently. This system is very early so there are not a lot of things the player can say that will trigger the bots to respond.

Bots now sprint! Only you’ll see it very rarely because they will only sprint when they haven’t had a target for 5 or more seconds.

They now react to headshots and will sometimes either say something in chat or in voice chat whenever they get a kill if it’s a headshot.

-Player chat

Players can chat with bots and they will respond to it.

-Speaking of which, headshots!

Headshots do 1.5x the damage of the weapon you’re using. This allows the FMJ mod to 1 shot bots if hit in the head! Headshots will color the hitmarker yellow instead of white.

-Sprinting

Players and bots can now sprint.

-New mod! Burst

Replacing the Extended Barrel, Burst is a new mod that shoots in 3 round bursts. I felt that the extended barrel was near useless so now it’s replaced with this!

-Gun balancing

Automatic now has 30 bullets instead of 20 as requested, at the cost of slightly less firerate.

Guns now have slight recoil to give them some punch.

-Minimap

Although this was in the game previously, I actually uploaded the wrong version and didn’t change it. So yeah, a MW2 ripoff minimap is now in the game! Enemy icon changed to an orange glow-ey dot thing instead of an arrow.

-Image effects

New image effects as wells as tweaks to old ones. Cover is now very shiny and reflective (only reflective on max image effects).

-I somehow made the game look more like MW2.

-UI updates and changes

There is now a “low ammo” text that will tell you to reload if you have less than your gun’s max ammo / 3.

New MW2 font, cod-like team-score progress bars (I don’t know what these are called).

A “match state” text that will swap between the gamemode, you losing or winning, or even a draw.

Moved the ui around a lot, voice chat is now to the right of the minmap, chat is below the minimap and killfeed is below the chat.

-Animations

Slight animation changes as well as the sprinting animation for the player.

-Level stuff and things

Buildings added to background. Why? Don’t know. Why is the arena in the middle of buildings? The world may never know.

Realtime global illumination added, just makes it look a bit better.

Back in my art school days I used to ride the 710 COPSA line from Parque Del Plata to Montevideo almost everyday. This is the Marcopolo Viaggio G4 Mercedes Benz model from the late 80s, one of the older bus models that was running on the line.

Horror WIP A track that will be featured in a future horror game soundtrack! Stay tuned!
