UPDATE: Reasons for Absence, What's Next

It's been an unreasonably long time, hasn't it? I'm sorry about that. The truth is that I really struggled with making the game. I started as an overly ambitious 15 year old motivated by the then recent release of Color Splash to make a Paper Mario like game. Of course, being only one person, who has no experience making games, with no funding whatsoever, the project was likely doomed to fail and never reach completion.

And so I'd say the biggest announcement here is that the game is postponed indefinitely. It truthfully has been for well over a year. I won't rule out coming back to the game to finish at some point in the future, as I do have many ideas and still wish to see this game finished. But the chances are low and even if I did decide to attempt to complete the game, it could take many more years.

I am at least happy that the release of other games like Bug Fables are there to satisfy those who are still looking for a classic style Paper Mario game.

Today, because I feel no true need to keep it private, I will release the final build of the game that I finished. It was a private demo meant for testing the game and as such, contains numerous bugs and things that I would have fixed if I had continued development any further. It contains the Prologue and first two chapters in early stages. There's around 3 hours worth of content and I hope that those who were looking forward to this game can at least get some enjoyment out of this unfinished build. I myself am proud I was able to even get this far in making the game and am happy that others can now see it.

Thanks for following the project, and I'm sorry if I have let any of you down. I hope to someday finish this game still, but know that the game is not currently being worked on. Please enjoy the demo I made.

I have added rewards for quests so that villagers can give you something in return for your hard work helping them. πŸ₯³

I want to know - what's your favourite quest reward?

Sometimes the suction cup get sticky. Small animation I made in Blender after doing my tutorial on picking up/dropping objects in animations. Crate model by jQueary (https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/game-ready-sci-fi-crate-d98deca6…).

In the quest for accessibility, I'm adding Resurrection Shrines for players on the 'novice' end of the platforming spectrum.

In order to unlock the power of a Shrine, you must collect 3 'Souls' from your dead corpses! (the floating blue orbs)
