Hello!!! It's been a long, long time. I've been working on a lot of stuff for Melodies: Episode One and I'm extremely happy to show you these new teasers!
Jeremy Fitzgerald
He is best known for being the guard you play as in FNaF 2, however, his story is completely unknown though and he is nothing but a name in a check, which is a shame.
My biggest criticism of the FNaF games saga is the lack of compelling, three-dimensional characters. And I don't just mean the lack of 3D models for humans, I mean that the characters have little to no depth.
This character is the opposite of that, he IS the story of Melodies and its most important piece.
Making of Jeremy Fitzgerald
In case you're interested on how this was made, look at this! The process is quite similar to the one I used to model Hush, except it is way more complex.
I always start modelling humans from the mouth and then the nose, otherwise, it gets really complicated for me.
After that, I make the eyes and start joining each part together. It's important for the model not to look plain, it needs depth and curvature in order for it to look realistic.
Then, I make the lower part of the head. Modelling the jaw correctly is very important, otherwise, the whole model will just look slightly off.
After that, I make the whole head modelling and give it eyebrows and eyelashes. Of course, you could just take this model and call it a day but, if you want your character to look more special and professionally made, you really need to take a look at the next step.
Then, I texture the character, it's really important to add pores and color variation all over the model just to give it a more organic look. The eyes and lips are extremely important too. Next, I give him a majestic mustache and style it, same for the hair. As you can see, I also made some slight changes to the modelling and to the eyebrows to make it more realistic. Finally, I gave him a facial expression which really helps him look more alive.
Of course, your character needs a body, that part is still in the making actually, I just was way too excited to show this so I couldn't wait!
The model, textures, rendering, etc, was made using only Blender, it's really crazy you can do all this stuff with just a free program.
New thumbnail
I wanted to have Jeremy be the focus of this photo shoot with FredBear subtly creeping behind him. I'd say the result is pretty cool-looking! This will be the thumbnail for a long time until I come up with a cool way to make an animated one!
Office
The office is probably the hardest room to model since it can't be structured in a nonsensical way from an architectural point-of-view but it also has to make sense gameplay wise.
This is a sneak-peek at what the office is looking like currently:
This is a really early look at it and just one of the many angles of it. This office has gone through 7 main variations already and all of them have been scrapped. I'll keep working on this one until it looks perfect!
Gameplay
I'm redoing some of the gameplay and it's getting more and more terrifying each time. Dealing with the animatronics is going to require the player to stay calm while being quick at the same time. It's going to be stressful and is going to require a ton of concentration, which is what made the first FNaF game so scary and charming.
The main menu is gonna be my next step, since it's going to heavily rely on Jeremy.
My thoughts and feelings
Making Jeremy was really an emotional roller coaster for me, it's a character I've been writing for more than a year and a half and I feel a deep connection to him. At first, when I was making the model, it wasn't looking just as I wanted but I kept going and the result is definitely worth it.
This game gets me really, REALLY emotional, I'm willing to admit I've cried a bunch of times while writing the script because of how realistic and grounded this character despite the extremely surreal situations he is being put through. He is a flawed man, a good person who wants to be left alone after all he's been through, he's made plenty of bad decisions and will continue to make them cause that's how real human beings work and that's what makes his character work, the little mistakes in him.
This game has been one of the only things keeping me going, I've been having a pretty rough couple of months but this keeps me alive, happy and distracted. Thanks to all of you, really, your support helps more than you may think.
I hope you have a good day, or week, or month! See you soon!
