So I’ve been revisiting the first three FNaF games (aka the original trilogy) to get ready for the FNaF movie. I started FNaF 2 recently, and one line of dialogue got me thinking.
The dialogue is from our good old pal, Phone Guy.

Phone Guy tells us on Night 3 the following “Whatever is going on out there, however tragic it may be, has nothing to do with our establishment”. This HEAVILY implies that there was an incident during the events of FNaF 2 that is associated with the restaurant from that game, but didn’t directly happen there.
The first thing that came to mind was the death of Elizabeth Afton at Circus Baby’s Pizza World.

This seems most likely, due to the fact that this event is directly connected to Freddy’s but would typically be consider its own thing. Not to mention it happened outside the FNaF 2 restaurant. Also unlike other events like the Bite of 83 and the Missing Children Incident, we know don’t exactly know when this event happened. All this makes it a pretty likely option.
What I’m more curious about is what this meant in the original canon. You have to remember that Scott Cawthon originally intended for FNaF to be a trilogy, and by the time FNaF 3 was released it was suppose to be the end of the series. With this in mind, I think the only other possible explanation for this dialogue from is Charlie’s death.

This event happened outside of Freddy’s, but was still directly involved with the restaurant. It also plays a huge role in FNaF 2, which gives it more of a reason to be the event that Phone Guy was referring to. The only problem is that the Missing Children Incident is heavily implied to have happened in the older restaurant that the withered animatronics were made for, and the Puppet had to exist to give the robots life. This starts an even bigger question on why this one incident is seemingly the only PR disaster for the FNaF 2 location. You would think that the Missing Children Incident would be just as big, if not bigger, problem for this restaurant but I guess not.
What do you think Phone Guy was referring to?
