WHY I think Harley Sawyer has BPD and/or NPD

hi. ok bpd/npd harley sawyer.

He never was doing things for others, saw a lot of people as pathetic and not worth it when he could be pursuing science, right ? We know he’s been that way since he was young according to Elliot Ludwig’s letter to him to kick him out of Playtime’s Young Geniuses Program.

Harley does NOT take it well, as his hero has just abandoned him. He immediately begins to start hating Elliot, his feelings made rather clear in this unscrambled image from the icepick arg where Harley has torn up and possibly tried to burn pieces of something after having writing of his betrayal on it.

obviously full of hate, huh ?

KIDS DONT COME OUT THAT HATEFUL !!!!!

this is where i take the known lore and start speculating and guessing so get ready its gonna get weird

We can probably guess that Harley didn’t have the best childhood as he obviously has some problems.

Throughout all of his time as a character in Poppy Playtime since the release of Project: Playtime in December of 2022 we’ve picked up on many of his personality traits: he’s manipulative, narcissistic, and egotistical. He’s a sociopath. Has a very high sense of grandiose, often believing himself and his abilities above all others

how does this tie into a bpd diagnosis? lets go through criteria

  1. Impulsivity: Seems to make rash decisions sometimes or straight up horrid choices, one example could be the Theatre Incident.

  2. Mood Instability: Very very volatile mood swings, one second he’s fine and after one minor inconvenience next he’s tearing stuff up screaming and yelling.

  3. Paranoia or Dissociation: (SPECULATION) Burrying himself down deep could be related to paranoia.

  4. Unstable Self-Image: Unsupported

  5. Unstable Relationships: Unsupported but extremely likely.

  6. Suicidal Gestures: Unsupported

  7. Inappropriate Anger: Oh boy I don’t think Inhave to elaborate.

  8. Vulnerability to Abandonment: Frantic efforts to avoid abandonment are not portrayed, but he doesn’t take well to Elliot removing him from the Young Geniuses Program. He sees it as abandonment and the resulting mood swing and behavior could support this.

  9. Chronic Feelings of Emptiness: Unsupported but possible

now i’m gonna list things that aren’t diagnostic criteria but are symptoms of bpd that harley just so happens to fit into

  1. Behavioral wise: antisocial behavior, hostility, irritability, social isolation, lack of restraint

  2. Mood wise: anger, general discontent

  3. Psychological wise: distorted self-image, grandiosity, narcissism

TIME FOR NPD !!! YAYYYY

  1. Grandiosity: He believes his intellect and abilities are unmatched, that the others need him and only him and that what he’s doing is quite possible the greatest think mankind has ever done.

  2. Fantasies: Unsupported but possible.

  3. Uniqueness: States he’s special and that no one understands him because they are not special.

  4. Entitlement: Believed he needed Yarnaby as a guard dog type creature to protect him because of his importance.

  5. Exploitation: Took advantage of Quinn to be able to use him as a test subject. Then took advantage of Quinn(Yarnaby) AGAIN to mold him to be like a guard dog.

  6. Lack of Empathy: Does not care who he hurts to reach his goals, discards Yarnaby(Quinn) without regarding Yarnaby’s feelings.

  7. Envy: Unsupported but extremely likey.

  8. Arrogance: Talks highly of himself.

  9. Interpersonal Functioning: Unsupported but extremely likely.
