Critter Shift
The truth never sleeps
LOGLINE
A lone detective must survive a night shift in a derelict animal-themed attraction, using wits and surveillance to uncover the truth behind the "perfect" robotic performers that have begun hunting the living.
PITCH
You are the newest night guard at "Critter Cove" — a once-popular family entertainment center now slated for demolition. What starts as a simple watch turns into a fight for survival when the four main animatronic mascots begin to stalk you. But there’s a mystery deeper than malfunctioning machines: each animatronic behaves not randomly, but with purpose, as if following the steps of an unsolved crime.
Survive is not enough. You must listen, observe, and connect the clues left in their movements, audio logs, and the decaying environment to solve the cold case that binds them — before you become its final entry.
KEY FEATURES
1. SMART HORROR
The animatronics (BOTSMAN the raccoon, ELA the squirrel, BIT the badger, LOLA the owl) don't just wander. They follow hidden patterns tied to a narrative.
Their behavior changes based on evidence you find — they react to your progress.
2. DETECTIVE SURVIVAL
Use a limited "Analysis Mode" to scan for thermal traces, audio anomalies, and electrical signatures.
Review camera feeds not just to spot threats, but to piece together their routines and discover safe paths.
Collect audio logs, handwritten notes, and broken toys to reconstruct the story.
3. ATMOSPHERIC NARRATIVE
The story unfolds environmentally — through vandalized posters, corrupted announcements, and the animatronics' own repeated phrases.
No cutscenes. The horror and mystery are experienced in real time, as you watch and listen.
4. PSYCHOLOGICAL PRESSURE
Manage your power, flashlight battery, and mental focus.
Sounds are clues — but also distractions. The line between paranoia and intuition blurs.
The building itself feels alive, with flickering lights, distant whispers, and objects that move when you look away.
THE ANIMATRONICS — MORE THAN MACHINES
Each character represents a piece of the puzzle:
BOTSMAN (Raccoon) — The ringleader. Methodical, observant. Follows patrol routes that trace the perimeter of the "incident."
ELA (Squirrel) — The mechanic. Drawn to broken systems, hiding spots, and electrical panels. Her path reveals sabotaged equipment.
BIT (Badger) — The archivist. Lingers near records, old posters, and employee areas. Whispers numbers and dates.
LOLA (Owl) — The watcher. Stays in high places, drawn to light and sound. Sees everything, but only acts when you make noise.
They are not mindless killers. They are witnesses trying to replay the truth — and you are both the audience and the final clue.
GAMEPLAY LOOP
MONITOR — Watch cameras, track movements, note anomalies.
ANALYZE — Use tools to find clues in their behavior and the environment.
DEDUCE — Connect clues to understand their patterns and the story.
SURVIVE — Use that knowledge to avoid, distract, or outsmart them.
UNCOVER — Piece together the full mystery before 6 AM.
