Gave it a Let's Play, pretty solid Doom-like shooter, had fun, my only feedback is to possibly make Ammo pickups more 'shiny' like the regular shotgun pack on the ground can sometimes blend in the environment, make all of the ammo types sheen with a white-flash or luminescence as many shooters do, otherwise? Solid. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d2ITaDktxhw
As someone who spends a lot of time playing boomer shooters, this one actually stands out to me. The gib system is surprisingly the least interesting element here, despite being the most touted.
The gunplay and enemy balance here is actually superb - as well as the theming. The subtle story cues of the meat processing plant, as you see and follow that meat headed for the uh..."processor." And even at the start with all those costumes.
The level design keeps you thinkin, and the enemies keep you on your toes. Mobility is certainly nothing special, but the gunplay much more than makes up for it. Every gun is its own special tool in your arsenal, and while some of them are straightforward concepts, they all feel great to shoot and fill their niche nicely, rather than competing for the same role.
So, small criticisms:
>The Laser Gun feels just a little weak. It has some great potential, but the situations where it lands are a little too few and far between for me to not keep maxing on ammo. If you could raise its explosion threshold a bit - or make certain common enemies like the Butchers or Squidbeasts more susceptible to it - I think that would give it that last little push it needs.
>The Leech Gun is just too strong in its current state. The slow poisoning effect makes it good set-n-forget for enemies you don't have to immediately prioritize, but the healing you can pick up FROM those Leeches after is just too high. Once you know how to use them, you can get and maintain 200 health for just about the rest of your run. It becomes a triviality. I'd recommend either lowering the amount of ammo you get from pickups to force the player to consider how many they're using, or just lower the healing gained per leech.
And on a personal suggestion, the shotgun feels great, but with the SSG in the game too, it feels like the one weapon in the game that's just a little derivative. Since it's already your workhorse and (in some instances) your long-ranged plinking tool, perhaps I could put a bug in your ear about converting it to a rifle? Would deal about the same damage, just fires one bullet instead of a spray. Be better for hitting the weakpoints that some enemies seem to have, and probably great for those blasted Eyebots. Plus, having a rifle as your workhorse starter weapon as opposed to a shotgun would be a pretty subversive angle in a boomer shooter. Overall, though, the balance the shotgun provides is still fine, and I'd be perfectly happy with the current arsenal.
This is AWESOME!! I just love the graphics having this amazing lighting combined with the character models and environments. For the gameplay, I saw some people complaining about the dead models laying around but I actually found them useful as cover. And please, it would be great if you keep the double barrel shotgun ammo and the normal shotgun ammo separate, as many games combine them leaving you with less shots overall. Solid game! I'll keep an eye on it ;)
Game is awesome, we definetily need more music to this carnage. Also physics are confusing me, it's hard to see through bodies and sometimes enemy looks like alive
so cool shooter
