MILK QUEST: THE GAME ABOUT QUEST AND MILK, BUT NOT QUEST, AND MAYBE NOT MILK EITHER
WHAT: a comedy, town-exploration, rougelite, RPG, pixel art, video game. Milk Quest is an indie game about playing as Bob The Cube, an idiotic, gentlemanly, and chaotic cube. you have one goal and one goal only... you have no milk for your cereal. so go buy some now!!! or don't. go do like, literally anything else and that's fine. just explore with the god of Hopefalls, Void Man, commentating on/talking to you, and go find the 100+ endings. these endings could be from fun quests, unique boss fights, npc interactions, random objects, and more. have fun, laugh, be aware there are some darker(like dark(but wrapped with absurdism)) moments in the game. once you get an ending, you get to restart and go look for another ending.
CUSTOMIZATION: when you start a run, Void Man will ask you info about Bob. his name, age, favorite color, and favorite food. the default is Bob, the 21 year old cube who likes purple and pizza. for name and food you can type anything. while age must be a numbers, and color can be chosen from a list of 64 colors. your favorite color changes bob's cube color as well as the color of random specific things(like Bob's roof color). Age can change whole questlines, either limiting or allowing you to enter places, like Roxxane's Saloon, or Elemeniddlehigh School. name and food the only thing those change are small flavor details. customization can be changed at the start of every run. so don't worry, you aren't stuck with the joke run of 'your mom' the 420 year old who likes to eat yellow school buses.
LOCATION: welcome to Hopefalls, earth but not earth. basically i took the society of earth and created a whole new infinite planet where i can add anything i want. due to its infinite size, Hopefalls is split into districts, each with their own ruler and theme. you'll find a lot of strange things in Hopefalls, and most the time, it's normal to the folks of Hopefalls. you can find things like, the killer klowns, pessimistic worms, a transatlantic cat lady, an aussie squirrel missing his bottom half, a boxer who uses dynamite, and much much more. i had too many ideas.
"Hopefalls isn't a town made for Milk Quest—Milk Quest is a game made for Hopefalls." -some idiot named Jacklo... yep, that’s me. probably wondering how i got here. well. when a mommy and a daddy love eac—wait, oh darn, we’re out of time.
you can just say Hopefalls is "Straight-faced absurdity + logical absurdity: the town."
GAMEPLAY: your playthrough will mostly be a top down rpg. going around and interacting with things, to see what Void Man has to say, or interacting with people to see what they have to say. Bob the Cube has infinite pocket space. so obviously, you can only hold 1 item at a time. but keys don't take up space. Occasionally, you’ll find a quest, which can lead to an ending. Some of these quests also lead to boss fights. once you enter a boss fight, almost all bosses use a diffrent gameplay style from the other bosses and/or unique version of that gaemplay style from the others. one boss uses turn based grid movement rpg, another uses rock paper scissors, another uses mechanics inspired by a retro game I legally can’t name, another uses Russian roulette, and another is a bullet hell style.
