'tis a weird game. but damn me to seven hells if it ain't a fun one!) first time seeing a game made on wolf engine on this here site, too, and good lord is it better than rpg maker - i really like the way the chibi sprites look, the overall game is brimming with colors and i love that, the 8-directional movement is nice to have and a lot of the weird and zany choices in game design or world building/plot development add to the uniqueness) makes the game stand out.
the only major problem i've found is the segments where you're just treated to a black screen with some dialogue without anything happening - you just listen to the main character rant about how the road tires him out or how he met Jennifer, or Jessica - whatever - i say, instead of relegating these parts to a black screen with dialogue boxes you better make them into cutscenes - even visual novels at least have character sprites moving and whatnot!) games are a great medium to channel the "show, not tell" mantra and you gotta use it to it's full effect) other than that, no other bugs - you might wanna go around the dialogues and fix the grammar a bit, though, mainly adding dots at the end of the messages because without them the dialogue at times looks and sounds like it's from a shitpost game))))
in any case, since you published this short version to see whether people are interested and you should continue then i can wholeheartedly say that i'm very much interested in this game!) it's such a unique and crazy experience into a truly foreign world that just enthralls you and you wanna explore further and further) so, OrangeCrash, if you decide to continue with Yolken then you have my blessing) good luck and take care!
Melodies of Yolken has ice cream, magic, and mob bosses all in the same story, take it or leave it.
You begin your adventure by waking up. Making the realization your grandma has been kidnapped. Your goal? Go save her, what else? Make choices that may or may not matter. Who knows? Me but I won't tell you the consequences until it's too late.
Use RPG mechanics because I couldn't be bothered to be smart and use Unity or anything with high chances of uniqueness. Am I shaming myself in my own game's description too much? No such thing.
