What do you think?

As goated as a DS remake could get honestly without ripping too much of the original game.

I think having keyboard support for this game would make it better in terms of Quality of Life, even if it's just having keys for the pause menu and the speed up. Also I don't know if the speed up stopping by itself is intended or not. Anyways, this is a 9/10 game, I admire the slight increase of difficulty the game has compared to the original. I've only reached Wallnut Bowling so far but this is pretty great.

The fact I found this randomly and it's new is wild.

Edit: Some oversights/problems I found when playing through the game more:

  • Squash and Tangle Kelp's description have a typo. when initially getting them.

  • Trying to place the Twin Sunflower is broken and doesn't display correctly. The same is said for Gatling Pea.

  • The small screen size makes it hard to see the Lawn Mowers (which are non-existent gameplay wise by the way), anything from the bottom part of the screen (like Spikeweeds in Pool levels), and the cost for plants on top of the screen are blocked by zombie heads. The "back" button blocks most Almanac descriptions.

  • The plant you get after beating 3-9 & 3-10 doesn't display correctly & both have no description on the Almanac.

  • The game gets softlocked on 4-1, with audio getting cut off too. Every level after this is non-existent.

  • Zombies going all the way to the left seemingly causes no game over and has no consequences. If you let them all go to the left without ever killing them, you will get softlocked from the game and unable to progress.

  • There is an exploit/debug thing where Scrolling up increases the amount of money you have, and scrolling down increases the amount of sun you have.

  • 2-5 feels way too unfairly difficult, even with the sun exploit.

  • 2-10 Wouldn't stop giving me OP plants (mostly Doomshrooms).

I hope all of these will get acknowledged.

Edit Edit: Nevermind. I read your other post about this game. Still fun though.

This is actually incredible!

PvZ Re-DS Review:

Gameplay: 9/10
Accuracy: 9/10
Quality: 8/10

Overall: 9/10

Note:
What I am excited for is the full release however while playing I noticed a few things that haven't been added, first of all you can bypass levels that haven't been released yet using the level loader system, but something I need to say is that there is no Lawnmowers and that leads to the fact that you can beat a level without doing literally a single thing at all, its a good remake, I just wish that there was the Lawnmowers, the Quality rating comes with the fact that it is easy to just win a level with the bugs, and the Accuracy and Gameplay comes with the fact that its a faithful remake with a core mechanic missing from the game, it's just a good game, I hope to see the full version release soon and hopefully see the lawnmowers and the rest of the game, hopefully you recreate the mini games from the DS Port, that'd be great, and maybe bring back some other content? Good game, cannot wait to see the future.
