I didn't exactly come here because I'm a Riddle School fan (never played any of the games, though I've known about their existence), but because this Game Jolt page coincidentally got published on the same exact day as the one for my own project. I found that coincidence funny and made me go "You know what? I'll give it a try"... Though I ended up playing the Newgrounds version because it's playable directly on that website.
And honestly? It's not bad at all! The only thing that baffles me is the actual use case of the gum scraper. For some reason, my attempts at using items in the janitor's closet caused the dialogue to advance and get me kicked out of the room prematurely... Until I gave up and looked at a "walkthrough" video on YouTube. Otherwise, since I was essentially doing a blind run, the rest of the game was manageable to figure out with a little bit of exploring and checking everything.
Given how this is only the remake of the first Riddle School (at least for now), I hope you end up actually remaking the other games of the franchise. I'm now considering adding some sort of "Also try Riddle School - Retakes" message in my project.
Also, ngl, "telling a joke" being the only(?) valid excuse to enter the principal's office was kinda funny.
REALLY fun and REALLY charming experience! i can't say it has the same charm as the original game, but in exchange it has it's own personality that really makes it stand out even more imo
if i had to nitpick anything, i'd say some puzzles could be made a little less vague, but after a few minutes of tinkering i got the hang of it
been hyped for this release for a while and it DID NOT dissapoint! looking real forward to the next game you release
Riddle School - Retakes
Riddle School - Retakes
(This is a mouse-only game; no keyboard use)
I'll be honest kind of anxious about releasing this, this has been a project I've been developing for I want to say 2 years now and tho originally being a remake of ALL the games I've taken it down to just the first for now.
I hope you enjoy my little project, it was made out of pure love for this series I grew up with and I wanted to give back to it!
Special thanks to all my friends who helped me with this game as well.
I do not support the actions of the original creator.
Happy 20th to Riddle School!
