Years ago, a Sonic Genesis prototype was developed but never released. The project was abruptly abandoned after the sudden disappearance of Sonic during testing, leaving the game incomplete and shrouded in mystery.
Now, the lost prototype has resurfaced. Sonic is missing, and his closest allies — Tails, Knuckles, Metal Sonic, and Eggman — each venture through familiar zones to uncover the truth behind his disappearance.
At first, the worlds feel just as they should: lush hills, ancient ruins, futuristic speedways, and mechanical fortresses. But subtle signs hint that something is wrong—cryptic messages left by the original programmer, odd behavior in enemies, and eerie quiet moments in the environment.
Each character’s journey reveals a different piece of the puzzle, guiding them toward a dark secret: a powerful entity known only as Sonic.EXE, born from corrupted data deep within the game’s code. This force threatens not only Sonic but the very reality of their world.
Their paths converge at Eggman’s fortress, where the truth behind Sonic.EXE will finally be faced, and the fate of the lost prototype decided.
