The year is 2083
Decades after the Quiet Collapse, the world is quieter, colder, and far more wild.
AI kept the lights on long after we stopped showing up.
No war. No plague. Just a slow unraveling.
Cities emptied. Birthrates collapsed. Nature returned.
What’s left of humanity clings to old tools and older traditions  outfitters, tags, hunting ranges.
Most avoid the regions marked in red.
Sage Creek Outfitters doesn’t.
Your Role
You're a newly contracted Caretaker, assigned to a 4,666-acre stretch of wilderness that hasn’t seen human tracks in years. The last caretaker (Jeb) disappeared without a word.
Now it’s your turn.
Sage Creek drops you in for the winter. No pickup. No backup. Just a stocked cabin, a radio, and months alone to monitor wildlife, set camps, track predators, and determine if the land is still viable.
This isn’t just about survival.
You’re here to help the Outfitters survive  and they’re watching every move you make.
Outfitters share limited tags to avoid overhunting. Every shot has to be justified.
Take the wrong animal… and your contract ends with it.
Grounded Survival Hunting No glowing trails. No waypoints. Track signs by instinct. Manage gear failures, injury, bleeding, exposure, and silence. The world will not wait for you to catch up.
Organ-Based Bleeding System Shot placement determines organ damage, bleed rate, and blood color. Every trail tells a story if you can read it before the storm washes it away.
Realistic Meat Weight & Skinning Every kill counts. Skin, process, and pack what you can carry. The weight on your back matters especially in deep snow.
Dynamic Antlers Antlers grow based on age, genetics, and nutrition. No presets. Every trophy is earned and no two will look the same.
Terrain Signs & Footprints Snow holds tracks. Fog kills sound. Rain scatters scent. Reading the land is the difference between the hunter and the hunted.
Temperature, Wetness & Illness This isn’t cosmetic. Stay wet or cold too long and your body will break down. Shelter and fire are your lifelines.
Meat & Pelt Economy What you harvest helps keep the Outfitters alive. Packaged meat and hides are sent back to support those still clinging to the old ways.
Tag System with Consequences Most large game animals require tags. You’ll be issued a limited set per contract with future support for daily tag refreshes. Trappable animals and rogue threats may be exempt, but killing the wrong thing can cost you your position and trigger a game-ending consequence.
Legendary Animals “Ghosts” Every region holds a single, rare, near-mythical animal. Sometimes it’s a predator. Sometimes not. If you see it, you may only get one shot.
Jeb’s Journal Scattered pages from the last caretaker detail survival tricks… and things he couldn’t explain. The more you find, the stranger his story becomes.
Other Hunters Occasionally, you’ll cross paths with others from different Outfitters. Some trade sightings. Some stare too long at the fire. None stay long.
The Longer You Stay... You weren’t sent to chase rumors. You were sent to do a job. But if you stay long enough… you might find what Jeb couldn’t outrun.
