Undercover Break

This is a retro style, simple arcade racing games.
Possible 8 bit, 16 bit style. As a developer, I also inspired my MSX-1, 2 computers.
If you know such games as Taito Chase H.Q. or Highway Star/ Rad Racer, Outrun, Knight Rider, Road Fighter than you already got the idea.

Also, some inspiration comes from movies side. It is such movies as Mad Max, Knight Rider, Miami Vice, Nash Bridges, Dukes of Hazard, SledgeHammer and some others. It is about muscle car, some action hero and the road. So 80s movies are here.

Also, in some way, it is about need for speed 1, but from a policeman side.
This videogame inspired a lot by 80s music, movies and videogames. As you see.
And game is plays like retro.

So, you are a policeman. And your duty is to control city streets. You have a car.
And it is a call for you. To start the chase for outrunners and bandits on the roads.
The game is about time racing also. So move through checkpoints.

Computerized automatically systems on your turbocharged beast

Shooting mode

You have a great police car. Let`s say it is some mustang style car.
With computerized automatically systems. Like KITT from Knight Rider.
You have auto aim system. Just press A to activate shooting mode.
It gives you rectangle of shooting zone. And it auto aims on nearest target.
Press A again and it shoots!

But keep in mind, that you are justice officer.
And if you hit or shoot civilian cars, then you will have score penalty.
And if you shoot or hit bandits or outrunners then you get scores up!
You are doing the right thing!
You are keeping justice updated!

Turbine mode

Also your car is turbocharged. This means that your typical speed limit is 200.
And when you run turbine it reach up to 280. Turbine is also intelligence computerized system.
So you can start it by press S, but if you have not enough speed to start, then it gives a message.
So turbine starts at 160. It needs some time to prepare turbine, and then it goes. With giving you more speed.
You can use turbine to go through some checkpoints more faster, and to reach outrunner,
that is far away from you, when he appeared on the road. You can stop turbine by pressing S again.
And turbine works for some time only. Then it needs some time to recharge.
And one more – bigger speed – bigger score you get!
But please, be professional, and be careful on the road!

Turbine – for skip some road parts. I mean just fly across them on a big speed.
And to reach outrunners.

Nearest outrunner indicator

Also, you have nearest outrunner indicator. Press Z to see this indicator at work.
It shows a distance to nearest outrunner on the road.

Road objects

So, now it is clear about your equipment. Let`s see what about road objects.
They are three types. Civilian cars. Do not hit them, do not shoot them.
They are peaceful cars on the road. Bandits cars are mainly black and on jeeps.
They are aggressive and can shoot you. To deal with them shoot first.
Make a score! And outrunners, they are fast sport cars, they ride above the limit.
They do attack speed and peaceful life. So solution is only one – engage them and shoot!

Police instructions

So each level you receive a police instructions.
To complete a level you need to do several things.
1) To get several checkpoints.
2) To destroy total amount of bandits
3) To catch total amount of outrunners. Don’t hesitate, this means to destroy outrunners.

Technology gives a power! Power for justice!
Use this turbocharged computerized beast wisely!
With a great power comes a great responsibility!
Drive carefully on a real roads!

Arrows to navigate
SPACE for confirm choice
Ingame:
LEFT/RIGHT – move left and right
UP/DOWN – speed up and down
ESC – pause menu and statistics
A – shooting mode
S – turbine mode
Z – Nearest outrunner indicator
