here are my thoughts about the nights (i havent beaten night 5 though so that nights opinion is incomplete)
night 1 is undie-able, but the tip actually helps to understand the game.
night 2's tip is useless. i did realize susie is a "music box" at some point, and i was honestly disappointed. the game has started night 1 and immediately gave me access to 1 billion cameras. a music box in this type of game is really counter-intuitive. i beat the night by keeping the yellow rabbit on susie's camera, making the night boring, honestly.
night 3's tip tells you to do something that you'll never do. theres too many cameras to try and find mom and dad when a convenient tracker exists. this night has the same gameplay as night 2, but with switching to trackers sometimes.
night 4's tip pretty much just tells you what to do (just like night 1's tip). the skeleton guy is way too goofy looking. he doesnt do much though. pretty much just night 2 gameplay with afk sometimes.
night 5 changes the yellow rabbit's spawn i think? or at least he doesnt go to susie's camera anymore. good change, but the game is still just 3 music boxes (the yellow rabbit, susie, mom and dad as dynamic music boxes). maybe if i understood what the new threat does, i'd realize that im wrong and its 4 music boxes. but idk she just hangs around in my office and then kills me.
genuinely what does she do. the tip sounds like she's on the cameras, but not only can i not find her, i also dont know what to do against her (cause i doubt it'd be a second yellow rabbit). also, if she IS on cameras, then why can i flash the doors. there is nothing there, EVER. wait, yeah. i've forgotten about them. whats up with the door lights?
Given the amount of cams, allowing us to use the cam flashlight with a key, like Shift or Ctrl would help check cams much more quickly, which would balance out the sheer amount of cams there actually are. Other than that, the cams are a little unresponsive sometimes. I often click on a cam but it just...won't change, or even play the white flash that usually plays when you click on one. It just ignores my input.
Ok, so I like the look of it so far, beat only night 1 as of writing this, however, I have some criticisms:
-When you turn on the flashlight on a cam, it gets rid of the green highlight you would normally have on the camera button you are currently looking at, making it easy to lose track of which cam you are looking at.
-The yellow rabbit was way too slow on night 1, which made him not attack me even once. This is a problem because I am not forced to learn how to deal with him, until later nights, where other threats are thrown into the mix. You need to make sure the player knows what to do before you introduce new mechanics and threats, or else they'll feel overwhelmed when they eventually have to.
-Some cams look way too similiar to each other, down to the angle and the shape of the room, with very few differences between them, like the Hallway cameras. Design-wise, it makes sense that in a hospital there's no reason to have every single room look completely different from the others, but from a gameplay perspective, it makes it easy to get lost and lose track of things, further amplified by just how many cams there are. Genuinely, this is the game with the most cams I've ever played, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but you need to ensure that the player has an easy time navigating them and knowing their way around the building, or else they *will* get overwhelmed.
Before actually beating this game I just wanna say the "horrors from the past" guy is just really funny looking. I've never laughed so hard at what I assumed was supposed to be a jumpscare.

Silver Basin Medical Institute is a local hospital in Hurricane, Utah, that has been short on security for a long time. With a recent budget increase, they’ve managed to hire new staff, and you’re one of the few chosen to work the night shift. Your job is to monitor your section of the building through the surveillance cameras and make sure everything is in order.
As you settle into your routine, you begin to notice something strange happening within the hospital. In the corners of the rooms, you can clearly see strange apparitions that seem to creep closer and closer to your office… and they don’t look friendly. You’d better keep a close eye on them.
Can you survive five nights and make it to the end of the week?

Border of Life (BoL for short) is a non-profit Five Nights at Freddy's inspired game made in the Unity Engine that takes place inside an hospital building. It was originally created as a final project for a game development course in just under a month, being reworked slightly for public release.
The game was designed as a love letter to the original Five Nights at Freddy's games, providing a classic return to norm, as well as a hidden but simple story to seamlessly go along with the gameplay.
Feedback is always appreciated. But above all else, enjoy!

Apologies for not crediting everyone individually and instead grouping them under “Various Artists.” While rushing to finish this game in time for the deadline, I didn’t keep track of the creators behind the many free assets I downloaded from the internet, and unfortunately lost track of who made some of them. If you are one of those artists and recognize one of your assets being used in the game, please contact me so I can add proper credit. Thank you in advance, I couldn’t have finished this game in time without your work!
