i had a blast while playing the game - the game performs well, has a very nice music selection, a cool option of being able to choose a sprite for yourself and a pretty good level design for the singleplayer missions! the various sprites are pretty cool, the movement is done nicely and you get a hold of the controls quite fast, and the weapons are all great - especially the blacksmith's hammer and the red sword-boomerang (it also kinda reminds me of the zenith weapon from terraria for the way it works).
but, even with all the good things mentioned above, i have a few complaints - firstly, i encountered a nasty bug on the arid canyon map - when first playing it, the enemies were endlessly respawning (luckily when i played i the second time everything went fine lol). secondly, i've encountered a bug with the blacksmith mob that after you shoot him with the boulder gun he takes periodic damage afterwards at random intervals - not sure what to make of it... and lastly, the final boss in the second map is pretty unfair - it would be nice if its projectiles would dissapear after some time instead of chasing the player endlessly.
i also have a suggestion - it would be cool to have some co-op maps where two or more players go through the map together, or even a survival mode where you have to continuosly battle against waves of enemies!) but alas, the game is still very good as it is.
all in all, this game was a very pleasant and kinda nostalgic experience with a pretty interface and level design - you did a good job, Napoleon!) take care!
It's been multiple years, but I've finally completed the last 4% of the game (I still have some stuff to do) but for now, Revision 1 of the final game has been released. Just to let anyone know, I can't fix any bugs in the game because the current code base has a debilitating bug due to the spaghetti code that is the current code base. Sometime later in the future I am going to rewrite the engine in Rust and fix all the bugs, and add lots of features (like a better renderer!). But as for now the legacy of CNM Online has a resolution. Enjoy fellow gamers. Enjoy the finished childhood dreams of these creators. (PS: These screenshots are very old (like 2 years old))
Original Update log (around alpha 1.6):
CNM Online is a online multiplayer game where you shoot stuff!
Its got a lot of modding utilities packed right into the game and is just a fun experience overall. Its got a kinda mid 90s pc retro aesthetic stemming from my tastes in video games, and my current skill of low level programming.
Most things like controls are covered in the README.TXT of the game, so I won't go over them here. But besides a few quirks the game is pretty easy to just pick up and play.
Its really just a game made for fun, its not meant to be great but I've had a lot of fun playing and making it so I hope other would too!.
