Curse of the Wolf
Curse of the Wolf is my submission to NES Jam 2026!Â
Controls:
A, Left arrow or gamepad left - Move left
D, Right arrow or gamepad right - Move right
Space or gamepad A - Jump
J, LMB or gamepad B - Attack
P or Gamepad Share - Pause/start
Pressing twice the attack button does an special dash attack!
To start the game press ENTER in the main menu!
Items:Â
Meat: Collecting 10 meats gives you an extra hitpoint!
Bloody fangs: These allow you to use the special dash more often! 1 fang reloads automatically if you don't have any.
Little wolf heads: 1 extra hit point!
What's STORY in the options? I added a mode with 99 lives for people that want to see everything I made for this game since I feel there's potential for rage quitting lol I wanted to keep some of the frustration the NES games generated in our poor young souls but I also would like for people to see all the work :v I won't tell anyone I swear
Programs used:
Used Blender for all models! Figured out you can actually export pixelart with blender lol rendered to png fixed frames of little 3d models that I made exclusively for this jam! The only annoying part was adjusting the colors but I think it looks ok at the end!
Piskel (which is integrated in Gdevelop) for the map tiles and decorations, and to edit some sprites too!
FamiStudio for music/SFX, this was really annoying to use, very finicky interface, but I understand it's faithful to the console?
Used Audacity to trim some SFX
And the engine is Gdevelop! Without using any pre made behaviors/logic, so it if feels wonky it's pretty much my fault lol
KNOWN ISSUES:
Gamepad functionality is a bit untested, I only have an 8BitDo SN30pro and the button layout is kinda wonky, couldn't make the POV buttons to work to move the player around so the player moves with the left stick! The PS4 layout is still programmed and it should work, but it is untested! A and B button seems to work but in my gamepad START is R2 for some reason... So I don't actually know if other gamepads will work ok!
