Stanley and Lucy Teach Braille

In this callback to Mario Teaches Typing, you take on the role of Lucy, a seeing-eye dog about to get her first human! She'll need to help him navigate the world, but it won't be easy for either of them.

Chord-inate Your Movements

All movement is done via chording with the SDF/JKL keys. Before each level, you'll be presented with a short lesson about braille. This lesson will be put into practice as you chord the prompt at the top of the screen and navigate the level.

Simply moving around isn't enough as there are many hazards and obstacles that you'll need to help Stanley avoid. Chord correctly (it will appear in green) and you'll not only avoid those obstacles but collect lots of treats along the way! Chord incorrectly, and even the smallest of obstacles can trip up Stanley and possibly get him hurt.

Go Anywhere!

Independence is the name of the game, and as you get better and learn more, Stanley will surely grow more confident and want to explore more of the world. Are you up to the challenge?

Materials Used and Other Misc.

This game utilizes the current Unified English Braille, updated 2016. If a new version is released, the game will reflect it as soon as possible.

While in Early Access, game version reads as follows: [Completed Areas].[Extra Levels].[Level Changes] The current version 1.1.0 means there is one completed area, one extra level outside of that, and no minor changes or updates have been made to the existing levels.

all-ages

Art day today. Did a little messing around with the cupboards and some furniture. Got a wine cellar, shower and tub and such. Probably redo appliances, spiff them up a bit Once I get all the major stuff in, then I'll go through and build the levels

DEMOS ARE NOW AVAILABLE!

If you're a Linux or Windows user, a demo of Guide Dog is now available

Mirror, mirror, on the wall

Who's the richest of them all?

This guy. Because he has two fridges, two microwaves, two chest freezers, and four ovens

And let's not talk about the luxury bathroom

Ignore the label, this is Level 8

For this Area (interior), should I make each level a different room and have them be the biggest rooms ever, or make them just different houses but with themed rooms in each?

Well, that's not frustrating at all. The export templates aren't working Not sure if computer, Godot, or internet. Demo will be delayed, but it just means that there might be more content when it does arrive

Went to a powwow today, which means I got basically nothing else done. But I did fix that oddly specific bug and make the option button a teeny bit more interesting Just need to fix Lucy's vest (tomorrow) and then on to the demo!

Area 1 is complete! 7/7 levels!

Read more to learn about the upcoming demo

Level 5 complete Not sure if I'm ambitious enough to do Level 6 today. I might just need food first But it's looking like a demo is possible this weekend

Almost done with Area 1. 4/7 levels completed. Started work on the home/interior sprites, ran into a minor logistics issue But if I get them outlined, I can polish and reimport later

King of the hill! At this point, it's kind of just level building
