The plot is that Jeb is pranking us by lending a TV for him to haunt us with. Wario calls us to help on the matter, I always love the Wario voice this VA does it’s really good, also heard in Circus Freaks iirc. Speaking of CF, that game is referenced with Wario saying he has to record tapes for his amusement park after this. He also namedrops FNaW 4 and the legendary Bruno Locktrap while continuing to break the fourth wall, I couldn’t ask for anything better. I think the first night took me 3 or so tries to figure out the mechanics and beat fully.

I think my first death was being too slow to the "change channel" Wario, getting you killed by Jeb. Same with a later death near around 4 AM to Radio Bruno. But once I figured out the manageable mechanics, I beat it with the call still going and got the Good Listener achievement. I was a Dumbo Wumbo, I signed in at the beginning of my playthrough but in one of those first 3 attempts I pressed to see what “Evacuate bowels” was, which was the Close Game option. I forgot to sign back in before my first win but thankfully signing in gives you the trophies automatically. So great GameJolt API for such a silly game!

I went back and beat the night with skipping the call while having the golden TV which I love, thank you Mr Wario for this beautiful gold TV.

Now it was Hard Mode time, my first death was at 1 AM to the TV weirdly not turning back on? Maybe I was charging it too much.

I got a good run to 3 AM but I started noticing that Jeb was invading channels I wasn’t on, meaning I was possibly charging the remote too much, and eventually while dealing with Channel 1 Jeb, it wouldn’t turn back on. Or it could’ve been something else but with how every death leads to Jeb, it’s hard to know what actually got you killed.

I took a peek at Yasj’s video on Hard Mode and this verified that staying primarily in the Dry Wario room to then switch to VIRUS Mario hourly was the initial correct move. What made this Hard Mode initially so hard was Jeb himself. I thought that charging the power for too long would cause Jeb to appear more, including outside of the room you were in later. But no, the strategy is the opposite. Charge whenever you have a breather and make sure it’s full. Charging it doesn’t actually affect Jeb’s AI, you think it would like Wario in FNaW 4 but it doesn’t actually matter. Once you figure this out, Hard Mode is way more fun to complete and is completely manageable for the most part.

Once beating it, I skipped the winner screen to see a FNaW Tier List with this game labelled as “Best game :)”. As someone who still updates my FNaW Tier List on special occasions, this was personally a great ending to the game. And the craziest thing? I’m only playing this game NOW because I wanted to take out this and One Night at Wumbo’s to be ranked on my latest update to my personal tier list, it came full circle!

Weirdly though, after a while, the screen fades away and you’re forced to reopen the game. This was probably when I checked Yasj’s video to see if this was intentional and I saw he got FNaF AR Freddy on the winner screen, I wonder if that’ll be important later.

Once completing it, you gain a Jeb Yoshi remote that clicking on gives you a Jeb voiceline. You now have the “You’re winner” on the title screen which clicking gives you a YouTube link. I initially just took a photo of it and copied it that way but it came out as unavailable so I missed the video at this moment but I will figure out my mistake later.

I did one attempt where I looked at the new remote and died but then I actually Beat Hard Mode again with my found skill. I completed it that attempt and waited on the screen for FNaF AR Freddy this time. Little did I know, this was actually the last missing achievement, it was waiting for the winning screen on Hard Mode, nice!

I then manually typed out the secret video instead and got the link, “Dear Mr. Gate”. I’m not gonna share the link to it and recommend you beat the game to get it, it has some funny lines that could be used as memes like “YOU ARE MENTALLY ILL” and “I LIKE IT BETTER THAT WAY” but go unlock it yourself.

I think the reason for this video is because of this. This game came out around January 16th 2023, Circus Freaks Week 1 came out later on around April 2nd, One Night at Wumbo’s was August 5th. So this was probably a teaser-ish game to Circus Freaks.

For anyone wanting to beat Hard Mode, use the strat of idling in the Dry Wario room to constantly rewind, remember VIRUS Mario hourly, deal with Bruno or whoever shows up. And most importantly, remember to charge the power whenever no one is attacking you, this way it’ll be less tense when Jeb attacks and you’ll have enough room to succeed. I completed this 100% in about an hour.

Overall, a very solid “just one night” game that I’m glad I finally gave a chance, it was coded by Yasj so I’m not too surprised on it being good. It’s solid for what it is and I’d gladly play it again. Good work! 💙
