Thanks for the feedback! Unfortunately I couldn't come up with a good keyboard-only scheme that would allow the player to shoot in different directions easily (I prefer that style as well). I briefly considered doing WASD for movement and arrow keys for shooting, but that wouldn't be nearly accurate enough.
Ultimately, I had to just pick mouse/keyboard and go with it - there were more pressing concerns to deal with in just 48 hours!
Awesome game but please change the controls to the arrows & jumping with the "UP" arrow, & firing with space, it will be much more comfortable to play, keep it up
The Kraken is stealing center stage again: All of your shipmates have been turned to ghosts! But alas, the show must go on! Pick up your trusty cannon and deliver swift justice to the Kraken once and for all!
Thank you for playing Much Ado About Pirates! This game was made for the Ludum Dare 31 48hour compo (Theme: Entire Game On One Screen). I took some liberties on the theme this time aroud . The entire game is on one "stage" - when you exit one side, the curtains sweep by and reveal the scene change.
Some of the keys may be a little tough to find. Use the cannon to reach places you couldn't by just jumping otherwise!

Controls:
A/D for Movement, Space to jump
Left Mouse Click to shoot
S to swap cannonball types (when acquired)
R to respawn (if you get stuck or something)
T to toggle the curtains (it might fix things if the game runs too slow)
