Neat idea! My current high score is 29. I really like the background color changes as the game progresses. It definitely helps keep things interesting. I like your idea of not being instantly destroyed by asteroids, but instead being pushed toward the bottom of the screen. This gives you some cool opportunities to escape at the last second and survive a hit. Good job on your game!
