Long ago, before the time of man, the Earth was ruled by Dragons. They lived in hierarchy, where the powerful ruled over the weak. The more powerful Tyrants of the Dragons ruled with iron fists, conquering the land around them and calling it their own. However, much later in time, Humans began to advance. Both parties wanted control over the land, but the Dragons had a natural advantage due to their scales and magic. The Humans attempted to combat the Dragons using their machines and weapons, but they were unable to triumph. That is, until a scientist named Glycero came to be. Glycero discovered that through the tears of Dragons, the most powerful essence of their magic could be extracted. Using this new discovery, Astyxis was born. Using the soul of their most skilled warrior, Cynel, they created a Human capable of turning into a Dragon using the very essence of Dragon's tears. Using Cynel as their main weapon in the war, the Humans were able to destroy many of the opposing side's troops. Cynel consumed many of his enemies, capturing their souls to use for his own power along the way. Realizing that they no longer had any chance to survive, the Dragons offered to be at peace with all of Humankind. The Humans considered their proposal, and decided that accepting would be the best option. However, Cynel, blinded by his power, did not agree to this. Against the will of his King, he continued slaying Dragons merely for sport. Eventually, the King deemed it unacceptable that Cynel should be out of their control, so he had Cynel executed. From Cynel's body emerged six souls, all of which contained part of the powers of each element: Light, Dark, Earth, Water, Fire, and Storm. Five of the souls immediately flew away, hoping to find new bodies to inhabit. The last of the six, Dark, was left behind. The King deemed that it should be stored and kept for later use, but ultimately decided against it. Unbeknownst to him, one of his royal advisors kept it stored in his laboratory, where he conducted experiments on it. One day however, the Soul escaped from the captivity, flying into the body of an unknowing victim. This Host eventually could not resist the power of the soul, and was turned evil. This event caused Astyxis to be brought back into the mortal realm, with the same terrible desires as Cynel once shared. However, this time he decided to target the Dragons as his allies. He spoke against the Humans, calling them murderous and cruel. He promised all of the Dragons eternally happiness and prosperity if Humans were erased from existence. Blinded by their desires, the Dragons followed what Astyxis said, causing yet another war to break out between the Humans and the Dragons. During this war, many priests prayed for their safety and to be graced with yet another great and mighty warrior to combat the Dragons. Then, one of the priests saw in his dreams an angel who spoke to him. She spoke upon him these words: "Only the One with The Soul of Light can defeat he who is of Darkness." The priest quickly told the King of his vision. Knowing there was nothing better to be done, the King ordered all of his knights to search the town, hoping to find the owner of this "Soul of Light." And this is where Your story begins...
