SPECIL EMENY!1!

A ROSY-TROVE side-story/crossover of modest proportions made in Kristal! Play as Kris, and battle through an otherworldly nightmare that has awakened in their heart during the events of DELTARUNE Chapter 4's Weird Route, with a horror-lite atmosphere.

There's one (technically two) mini-bosses, and a main boss to fight, as well as a confounding story about the parallels between Kris and the SPECIL EMENY.

About 20-40 minutes of content depending on your play-style, and moderate level difficulty, mostly influenced by the new tension mechanic and the fact that you are solo and do not get the opportunity to use a save point to heal, so your only healing comes from items.

Before You Play

In order to install SPECIL EMENY, there are actually two ways you can do it.

• The main .exe distribution is an executable for Windows. You should just be able to run it, and you'll be golden. A .love archive is also included with this distribution if you wish to run it on Mac or Linux. If you want to play the .love version, you need to install LÖVE 11.5 to your system, and you should just be able to run it using LÖVE.

• If you want to play the Kristal mod version, download the nightly release of Kristal, locate your Kristal Mods folder, place the downloaded .zip inside of the mods folder, and bada-bing, bada-boom, you're done. SPECIL EMENY should now appear in your Kristal mods list whenever you boot up Kristal.

Having a DELTARUNE save file on the same drive you're playing SPECIL EMENY on is recommended. A warning will be displayed before you start if one is not detected, or you're running an OS incompatible with this system. (You can still play, just a line or two might be different.)

Some of the achievements are currently unattainable. (For example, the "Egg Ending" is currently not a thing, so, you can't get that one.)

Every time you enter specific rooms, auto saves are made. Currently, in the "CYBER" room, if you are defeated by the mini-boss, you have to runback a decent amount. I plan on addressing this in a future patch.

SPECIL EMENY was made in Kristal, a DELTARUNE fangame engine made for LÖVE, and it would've been a snowball's chance in hell that I managed to even figure out how to make a textbox appear on screen without their wonderful engine. So, PLEASE give The Kristal Team all your love and support!

A: NOW! NOW! It's released again!

Q: Are there future plans for development?

A: Yes! Depending on interest, and feedback.

I plan to fix bugs as people report them, implement the "good" ending, and generally polish stuff a bit more.

But, needless to say if this gets 2 downloads in a month, that stuff is not going to be the highest on my priority list.

A lot of stuff in the game was pretty rushed because I wanted to make the Halloween release date, so, depending on how much people like this, there's a possibility for a lot of content, endings, etc, to be added. For example, all of the achievements have a generic icon, and I want each of them to have their own icon, but I just didn't have enough time.

The SPECIL EMENY also repeats a couple of her attacks, but, I also just didn't have enough time, haha.

ROSY-TROVE is an in-the-works DELTARUNE fangame that depicts a story almost entirely unrelated to the events of DELTARUNE, with new characters, a new main conflict, and some different gameplay. If that sounds like a breath of fresh air to you, then click on the link!

A: First off... rude! Second, I KNOW! :)

Sometimes it's intentional (especially with Rosy's sprites), but, other times it's just due to a lack of skill or time.

Many decisions taken in SPECIL EMENY's development were done simply because Spriter's Resource hadn't updated with certain Chapters 3 & 4 sprites yet.

(True story, lol.)

Q: How much does this game matter to ROSY-TROVE?

A: Consider SPECIL EMENY as just a SPECIL little crossover of dubious canonicity.

It's not that there aren't *any* connections between ROSY-TROVE and DELTARUNE's main plots, but something as direct as this, where main characters are interacting in a way that isn't just an Easter egg is something that will *not* happen in ROSY-TROVE proper.

ROSY-TROVE is simply a story happening in parallel to the one in DELTARUNE. Certain overarching events like the Prophecy, The Roaring, the Hometown Festival, and even the weather are going to be used to varying degrees, but the minutia of Kris, Susie, Ralsei, Noelle, and so on as characters are ultimately unimportant to ROSY-TROVE beyond the Prophecy itself.

This is by design.

Q: Will there be "crossovers" like this in the future?

A: It depends on how SPECIL EMENY is received. There's no shortage of potential side-stories that could be told.

However, the next ones will likely be much more lighthearted, and this is approaching the darkest you'll see from something like this. So, if you're not a big fan of the "horror-lite" atmosphere, and want something different, then rest assured that not every single side-game is likely going to be like this.
