Undertale the return to the underground

Undertale: Return to the Underground is a fanmade sequel of the popular game developed by the one and only Toby Fox. In Undertale: Return to the Underground, you play as a new human instead of good ol' Frisk.

Below is the lore behind the game. It is recommended to read it as it explains the lore of the game and help you in understanding as you play it later on (which might be a while since this is still in development).

"One of the many timelines, where the monsters of the Underground reached the “ending” they deserve, to surface out of the Underground. Just as all such timelines of the same ending, Frisk gave the monsters the happiness and freed them from the chains of distress, and finally, with the help of Asriel Dreemurr, the God of Hyperdeath, prince of the Underground, and the son of Asgore and Toriel Dreemurr, obliterated the barrier and freed everyone.

"Making amends with the humans would not be easy, or so they thought. It had been much easier than previously assumed, either from pure luck or due to Sans’ silly heartwarming puns – which is hypocritical due to his origins, being a semi-permanent citizen in Snowdin.
But as all tales, no such happiness last forever, several months after the Surfacing – the event was undoubtedly named by Asgore himself, being the King of the monsters. That eventful day, a mystifying shadowy cloud hovered over mount Ebott, no one realized it’s coming, only after it’s hovering right above the human village. It stayed idle for a while above, before jolts of lightning zapped off straight to the center of the small village, a bright light washed over the houses."

"With a blinding light, all the monsters – alongside Frisk, was gone.
When the blinding light perishes, Frisk found himself back to the familiar Underground they left six months ago. The humans above also gone into a state of panic, they quickly made a decision to check out Mount Ebott, where the monsters have left, another barrier was put in place of the original. Instead of the original barrier’s monochrome translucent color, the aforementioned barrier was of a murky shade of dark violet, and various gross looking colors crudely mixed into the abyss."

"One brave individual volunteered to go down to help the monsters, and so they did. Gradually, the monsters have no choice but to settle back to their old lives, Asgore and Toriel remained as the ruler of the kingdom, Undyne being… well, as ferocious and hyperenergetic as before. Alphys, Frisk and the brave volunteer continued researching a way to break the barrier.
Several eventless months later, another human climbed the mountain and fell underground, and that’s when things stir."
