A look at some of NO PLACE LIKE HOME's environments + the Clown!

Wow, it's been a while, hasn't it? Wild to think about how we've been developing this for a year already, huh?

No need to get into a bunch of paragraphs about how development is doing. It's great - we'll be able to show more of the Circus Killers and NPLH's extensive backstory in time, but right now I'd like to show off some more of NPLH's environments, modelled by the incredibly talented @ZAY3D !

You've seen the main room where the game takes place, the Garage. While it used to be an actual garage, it has been converted into a writing room by the main protagonist, and it's filled with various knick-knacks from the past that will help shed light on the plot as you learn more.

What else will we be seeing in the game? Take a look at our left hallway.

Here we'll keep the lights on to show you the immaculate modeling Zay has done for NPLH. In-game, the Circus Killers will invade your home and attempt to breach the doors of both the Garage and the Bedroom. Unfortunately, your camera system only watches the outside of your home... not the inside. You'll have to rely on your hearing and gut to drive off the intruders if they actually get inside. While in this render those photos are empty, in-game you'll be able to see more snapshots of our protagonist's past.

What else? Here is the Bedroom.

While you, the protagonist, are over in the Garage, your wife sleeps soundly in the Bedroom. An unfortunate heavy sleeper, she is unaware of the horrific events plaguing your home. In-game, both you and your wife will have to be protected from the Circus Killers. If they get to either of you, it's game over. You won't see much of the Bedroom in-game, but it was enough that we felt modelling it all was warranted.

That's not all we have to show you. We've felt it's time to give a final and in-depth look at the Clown - no more mystery here. He loves the attention.

Here is the Clown in his entirety. All of the Circus Killers wield their own weapons, and they're more than happy to use them against you. NPLH features in-depth death sequences in its game over jumpscares. More than just that, the Circus Killers are fully-animated ingame. You can expect to see them move a lot, both when they think you can't see them and when they have their gaze set on you.

The Clown is the first enemy of our game, and only the beginning of the threats you will be facing. In time you'll get to see the Mantis, our second enemy, and perhaps more as we get closer to NPLH's release.

(These renders may look pixelated or compressed to you - this is GameJolt's fault, not ours. Download the PNGs directly for a better look.)

Thanks for reading. We're hard at work making NPLH, but we won't make any promises as to when it comes out - ultimately the comfort and schedules of our personal lives are at a high priority. We aren't in a rush.

Been working lately on lots of 'behind-the-scenes' boring stuff that no one really cares about, so here’s a guy playing the sax for some reason.
