Blog One | Game Idea and Thoughts


For this tri, we are to make a Bullet Storm game in the similar sense of games like Touhou. My idea for this is a game called Paper, where the entire game looks just like a notebook where each level takes place on a page. The menu would be the cover of the book and in the game itself the design will look drawn on. The enemies would be drawn by hand in a notebook and brought over to the game. My thoughts for enemies could be stick figure mages that control the “bullets” that the player has to avoid. The player would be a pen that you as the player control. The idea is that the bullets in a way are preventing you from taking down notes in class and you have to try and draw bullets of your own to attack the enemies while also trying to avoid the enemies fire. When the player hits a certain number of points (accumulated from killing enemies and lasting through a few rounds) will get an “Ultimate” power where the player can activate it, and the screen will have an eraser appear and clear the screen of all enemies and bullets. The enemies will start spawning after 3 seconds as normal depending on the level. This ultimate would be used if the player gets overwhelmed and would allow the player to recoup and, refocus on the game and try to continue on with the game.

The schedule I have for the game is not finalised but what I want to work on this week is the layout for the game and the design for the enemies and their attacks. If I manage to finish those by next Sunday, I hope to start working on the spawners and score counter. As of writing this I have a menu design ready for the game and have some “bullets” designed.
