Welcome to The Seed and the Dagger's first ever Character Highlight! Today, we feature the Remnant that introduces you to the game's mechanics at the very beginning - the cunning red squirrel, Percy Akorn!
Bio
Before the Siren Toxin, Percy Akorn was just a child that had come from what he called "the broken home stereotype." After several years of barely scraping by, Percy became something of a technological pirate -- that is to say, he stole very valuable prototypical scientific contraptions to sell to the highest bidder. After the Siren Toxin, Mr. Akorn is no longer a dealer, but a hoarder. Every piece of electronics he steals is used to keep himself and other Remnants around him safe. These gadgets are his only weapon against the Monsters, and he knows he has to use them... even if he doesn't know how.
Gameplay Mechanics
Special Ability: Smoggy Illusion
One of the gadgets that Percy has at his disposal contains an early, under-developed liquid for combating the effects of the Siren Toxin. While not effective at all for curing the disease, it does seem to have quite a potent kick against Monsters. When this device is thrown to the ground, it creates an illusionary wall with a cloaking mechanism to make said wall appear as if it blends with surrounding architecture. When a Monster runs into this wall, they are nearly blinded for a short period, allowing Percy and other Remnants to make quick escapes, hide, or fight back against the confused Monster. Keep in mind, however, that this device takes quite a long while to recharge, so use it sparingly.
Personal Traits
Percy Akorn has 4 Personal Traits that can be equipped or unequipped as upgrades in-game! But keep in mind, every upside always comes with a downside. Such are the sacrifices we make for balance!
Illusionist: When Percy is close enough to a Monster, their vision range will begin to flicker and their visibility will be impaired, BUT... Monsters will know he's nearby when this effect begins to take place!
Arrogance: Percy will perform objectives much more quickly when Monsters are nearby, and he'll move a bit faster when running away during a pursuit, BUT... he won't be able to crouch or dodge Monsters' attacks, severely limiting his ability to hide and keep away from harm!
Cunning: Once Percy successfully escapes from a Monster's gaze, he'll receive a boost to his healing and objective completion speeds, BUT... when moving quietly, Percy will travel a bit more slowly.
Trail Shaker: Percy's bloodstains and footprints are quite a bit harder to see and he can hide more quickly, BUT... he leaves hiding spots more slowly, wasting his time when his team might need him.
