LED Strips have been a trendy affair for many years, whether in decorating a space like a house, restaurant, etc. They are DIY lighting solutions from long ago, which is why this technology is so interesting. It has become a minor research area, and cob led strips are the trendiest lighting solutions.
What Is A COB LED Strip?
COB LED Strip is a technical term where COB is a short form of Chip On Board. This means that the chip is directly packaged on the Printed Circuit Board. It encapsulates the chip on a flexible board. Chips are mostly flip-chips, which are solidly bonded on the circuit board. A layer of packaging glue mixed in with phosphor is placed directly on the chip's surface and the board.
It is a new technology that reflects and refracts the light of varied hues. The light Strip and the small light bulb react with the phosphor, emitting light of various temperatures and hues. The COB Led comprises several small chips instead of one chip.
What Is The Internal Structure Of the COB LED Strip?
The components of a cob led strip are as follows:
Printed Circuit Board (PCB) on which chip is attached.
A chip placed on PCB
Phosphor encapsulators which reflect, refract, and emit lights
The gold wire reacts with phosphorus to produce light of varying temperatures.
These enable a seamless finish on the light strip which then looks better than the original SMD light strip. This leads to more brightness and better lighting solutions. Any PTFE products manufacturer can produce these light strips as well, giving them a proper Teflon finish which enables and increases their efficiency for a more extended time. Their color rendering index is higher than the SMD light strips.
Features And Uses Of COB LED Strip:
They give a high luminous effect rendering no dark spots or dark areas. They have a uniform light effect which saves costs and material costs.
2. They are very flexible and bendable, which makes them easier to use. They can be formed into knots or any desired shape. Due to this property, these are adhesive and can be used in narrow places such as illuminated signs like ID and valve symbols.
3. They have a high color rendering index and can produce more light than other led lights. The object with a light strip looks better and has more opaqueness than any other object. The details are more prominent. Wherever COB light strips are used, the illuminated objects become more prosperous and have a better color gamut, with more extensive visible and evident object pictures. That is why these LEDs are primarily used in machines, monitors, museums, jewelry stores, etc., where the object has to shine brightly to be presented to customers.
4. They are ultra-thin, have a thickness of about 2 millimeters, and are easy to hide. The light Strip can be attached anywhere and doesn't increase the size or distort the object's shape. The space that uses LED light becomes illuminated without a light strip interfering with the whole structure of the room or the space.
5. They emit light at a straight 180-degree angle. As the COB is attached directly to the PCB, it emits light from below with a spread 180-degree angle, illuminating the space. Because of their wide emitting angle, any space uses less light, producing more lighting effects.
6. Colorful lights can amp up the space and illuminate various occasions. The LED light strips come in many monochromatic and colorful hues- Red, Blue, Pink, Yellow, Warm White, Purple, Green, etc. They can also be available in variants such as color-changing lights, two-colored lights, etc., and can be used for festive and home decor. For this property, they are also used in spaces that require immense decorative elements without cluttering the space too much.
7. LED strips can stick to any place easily because of their adhesive property. Therefore, they are used in suits and costumes made for dance performers, gymnasts, athletes, etc., and can also be used in props required for any performance. They are harmless and can be cut into any desired length.
8. They are dimmable in spite of their high illumination property. They have a remote control with the, which can be used to change their hues and colors as well as the lighting illumination they produce. They can dim according to the mood needed and add to the overall vibe of the room.
9. They have lower electricity consumption as they are directly attached to the circuit board, making them efficient for use and better at lighting properties.
10. They have a longer lifespan as they can produce bright light for up to 50000 hours. After this period, they are still 70-80% bright, needing no change of light strips for at least 10000 more hours. That is why they are used in homes, apartments, factories, showrooms, malls, etc., saving costs and money.
