The bug causes the game to crash when loading from a save slot that’s been saved in the middle of a game phase. To avoid it, just save at the beginning of a turn, not somewhere in the middle. Otherwise it won’t work and your game will crash. I will soon fix this, but right now I’m very busy. This is how it looks like:
