So, as I announced in my last article I am veeery busy with other things.
That said I’m doign some more with the game to solve a few key issues that were brought to my attention; mostly by Visor who thankfully wasn’t short on words regarding my game. Thanks Visor!
Here’s a quick overview of what I’m working on that makes no sense and has Jeff Bridges:
It’s a quick sketch of my map-poitn heirarchy that I’m going to use to make movement have some meaning. the game will be getting background landmarks (some reminders of what sort of horrible stuff the AI has been doing to this abandoned solar system,) environmental effects (such as bullet-blocking debris fields, sensor and missile jamming dust clouds,) and some findable secrets, like Jeff Bridges. (Disclaimer, Jeff Bridges will not be making any appearence in this game whatsoever.)
I’m thinking about rewarding exploring with that last Jeff category Bridges. Stuff like friendly machinery left over form the system evacuation, such as automated repair depots or randomly generated weapons platforms, maybe even findable allies or robotic companions. All of this terraina nd findable secrets will give the player incentive to travel, perhaps loitering in an environment that gives their ship-type an advantage.
