Planning & new computer
This week’s focus was on lots of planning for next year & preparations for the transition to the new computer. I’ve also started moving my code base into separate projects to further decouple the systems in the game for improved modding support and less repetitive work in the future. With the transition to a new computer it was the best time to put some more time into this as development will be limited during the holiday period anyway. I will use the remaining 2 weeks of 2022 to continue working towards this separation of code/systems into their own projects and integrate them with modding support. This will make the addition of new and iteration of existing systems much easier and faster in the future. Additionally I also took some time to plan my next steps and how I can most efficiently get to a playable demo. I will also be using the next 2 weeks to put more work into this planning and will be providing you with more information on that in early January. My computer finally arrived this Thursday. Unfortunately it has some serious issue which I think is called coil whining. I haven’t figured out a way to deal with it yet. Worst case would be that I have to send it back for a replacement of the power supply unit which seems to be causing the problem. That scenario would be pretty sad cause it would delay transitioning to the new computer by at least several weeks. I’ve already put quite some time into trying to get rid of it without success. On Monday I will be contacting the customer support who built the computer and see what they say and/or do about it. That’s all I had time for this week which unfortunately did not involve any game development. I wish you all a great holiday period and a happy Christmas if you celebrate it.
