Quick disclaimer:
No matter whichever of these options wins, the whole process will take a lot of time to complete. It'll be a long way out before any actual progress on this will be seen/ready to show off.
---
So right now development is still in the "fix as many bugs as possible and get it back into a playable state" phase.
But once that is taken care of, I intend to start work on perhaps the biggest addition to the game since V 0.8: replacing all the remaining temp sprites with a new set modeled from scratch and rendered in the same style as the other sprites.
(Because the clash of designs was never meant to be a permanent thing.)
Dunno if I should attribute my change in thought process to projects like FNaF+, or to certain comments about the designs being off (they are kinda starting to show their age). Either way, I'm now realizing that there is an opportunity to reinvent the character designs before I get too far into it.
I am uncertain which will ultimately be preferred, but I do have two options to go with.
---
Option 1: I stick with the original framework that began back in 2017-ish and keep things as close to the original FNaF World designs as I can. Alongside finishing up the remaining enemies, I would also be updating most of the roster with newer models that might look a bit better than the current set.
(Hard to say though, since modelling with 1-2 reference angles is not the easiest task to pull off.)
Option 2: I get creative with the designs and give them my own unique flair. I would try and find a balance between capturing more of their original designs and being something that could still be considered "cute". May also try and make certain enemy designs creepier than they originally were (to play into the story elements more).
---
In either scenario, there will be a lot replaced/updated later on:
Characters, Enemies, Bosses, Minibosses, Backgrounds, and various Overworld props.
---
Think that's all for this poll. Might have a few more, but tbh I need a bit of a breather after typing all this out.
'Till next time!
