Feedback Time! (v0.9.1)

Since releasing on GameJolt, Ignition has got a lot more players! Rejoice! And with that new batch of players, I’ve got a new handful of player feedback! And that’s what this update is about. Well, that and the login menus.

Login Redesign

The Login, New Save, and Select Profile menus have all been redesigned to be cleaner, visually more in line with the rest of the game’s menus, and more keyboard-friendly. Now you don’t have to use the mouse to get into the game before you start playing with the keyboard!

Player Feedback

I’ve made a few tweaks/bugfixes in response to things that some new players have complained about:

  • You can now hold the jump button to jump higher (or tap for a short jump) while wall-jumping or double-jumping, just like you already could when jumping from the ground.

  • The mouse cursor will appear as soon as you move the mouse, regardless of whether or not there’s a menu you can click on.

  • Dying while fighting the LVL7 boss would not make its spawned mooks go away when you continue.

Boss rush is nearly done! I just need to make some cutscenes and one new attack for a boss before I can get it out the door. I can’t wait!

Until next time,
HUZZAH!

In case you missed it - SEQUEL BETA TESTING!

Carnage in Space: Crucible is coming Soon*!

If you'd like to try it early and help me perfect it, read below to join the beta test and score a free copy!

Oodles of options!

Accessibility aids aplenty!

I added some more settings lately to toggle distorted graphics, fine-tune the audio mixing, and other stuff. Hopefully this should make the game accessible to more kinds of players.

Wait, there's MORE???

...

Oh yeah, there's more. Once you annoy Crimson enough, he starts busting out the specials. This one, Flechette Storm, is just one of those screen-engulfing special moves you'll have to contend with!

But even that isn't the end...

There's more!

Crimson doesn't know the meaning of overkill! Just how many attacks does he have at his disposal?

I'll give you a hint: More than this.

We haven't even seen his specials in play yet...

I've been retouching several things in the game that could use a little more love before release.

Among these is the nanotech system! You now get a flashy popup (with confetti and everything) when you unlock one, and the icons are also resigned.

Some new background elements in Chapter 4 (N). The sky's a little less barren now that there are more floating rocks off in the background.

These also use 3D depth for accurate scaling, parallax scrolling, and distance fog.

BOOM.

This is Crimson's final attack, Entropy Bomb.

This is what happens when Crimson runs out of patience and is done playing with you.

I'd wish you good luck, but I don't think that's going to help.

The poll is over, and Tuhrahkkkii is the winner!

With that, Crucible phase 2 has begun.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand we're still at it!

Special number 2: Javelin Fusillade.

That's quite a lot of javelins. And a lot of explosions. I don't think this guy is ever going to calm down.
