FLAPPY ROFL-COPTER
1 year ago

FLAPPY ROFL-COPTER 2.0 is available on Windows, Android, and - for the first time - Linux, too!

(it's no Flappy Bird, but (re)making a clone with a dead meme in it is how I can dream of it's rebirth...)

Surprise! Talk about a stealth (re)release!

Sadly, the reason behind this game being (re)made is not really a fun one, but at this point - I don't care anymore. I actually finished at least something!

(so now I know my Google Play Developer Account doesn't get euthanised in March due to it going 'unused' - gee, sorry I was super busy trying to make the big thing for you, Google! 'Scuse me!)

[You can download the game off of Game Jolt, itch or Google Play, btw]

Heavy Changes

(Not much of a) fun fact: The game was originally made in Clickteam Fusion, but due to a few... ahem... technical issues, I rebuilt Flappy ROFL-Copter from the ground up in Unity, which allowed me to add a few major Quality of Life improvements, which I will get into in just a moment.

Technical Quality of Life Improvement Additions

  • The game can run in just about any aspect ratio now!

  • For the first time ever, the game's available to be executed on a Linux system thing!

  • (Android) The game should now support more modern Android operating systems, with extra ARMv7 and ARM64 support.

Extra Additions

  • Progressive Difficulty - and the ability to turn it off. The more you score, the further and faster walls approach;

  • A few new post-death flavor texts, as well as an ability to turn them off;

  • You can pretty much play the game with a gamepad of your personal choice. I think.

so yeah, that's about it.

Cheers!

Just warming up with smaller things to familiarize myself with Godot's API, but

Hey, it's the small steps that count.

After sharing this on BlueSky and Mastodon, I feel like you Game Jolt folks would like to see it too.

So, have a snippet from the tech-prototype!

Side-scroller to First Person switcheroo, anyone?

(it'll get more interesting from this point onward soon)

Bro is NOT helping 💀

On a serious note

Yeah I've finally begun switching to a different engine. Hopefully for the final time, too, so
