(Game Spoilers) Current development summary for the month of "March" for Mindhive: Wilds

March Development Summary 3/1/24 - 3/31/24

This month focused on a new quest, followers, regions and polishing!

Around the beginning of March I decided to work on provinces and connecting them together which was a success, which allowed me in dev-build to travel from one side from the map to the other.

Near beginning/mid of March I decided to start on dialogue, but ultimately continued work on the followers for v1.0 instead as I believe dialogue is more of an extra thing.

Then I decided to work on a building I planned back then which was "Nerd Co." I had a lot of great ideas for this building, I decided to put it in the Windview region. Upon entering Nerd Co. and walking up to the front desk, you will be told that Nerd Co. is not selling anything at the moment as they are in a predicament. If you offer to help, you will be tasked with traveling to the Melbourne Forests and convincing a former employee to return a special piece of Nerd Co. property.

Near the end of March, I realized the game has nothing to do in between areas, nothing at the moment seems exciting enough to explore so I decided I'm making mini-trials around the map named "Sanctuaries" which reward XP and Vitalixr. At the moment the only Sanctuary is a stealth one, which contains many chests with useful items but includes deadly entities which will instantly kill you if you're caught. I also decided to add a new animal that can be hunted for meat, the "tortoise."

Anyways that was March!

And after an odyssey where I was working on commissions, I've finally reached my goal. I shouldn't reveal what it is because you're not on my Discord, but I know it will surprise you. #IndieDev #GameDev #PixelArt #PixelArtist

v1 releasing very very soon.

v2.0 brings long-awaited caches into the game! These cool (but pricey) one-time use items have the chance to give you very powerful weapons!

The Lupian race (also known as Lupines) is a species native to planet Meridia.

While I was busy with my personal life, I've been trying to figure out the aesthetic of this game and since the hourly soundtrack is made in Microsoft Music Producer (an old Windows 98 program) I've decided to make the UI retro stuff inspired :) - Martin

BIG NEWS!

v2.0 "UNCHAINED" releases sometime next week!
