Slendytubbies: Danger Zone

Happy 12th Birthday, Slendytubbies!
(progress post + SCREENSHOTS???)

12 years ago today, on 12.12.2012, the first Slendytubbies game released.

It sure has influenced my life a lot. Perhaps one day I'll make a separate post focused on that topic.

And, for today is such a big day for Slendytubbies as a whole, I think now is the best time to sum up whatever progress I've made during this year developing Slendytubbies: Danger Zone.

First, the good news:

2024 was indeed the most productive year ever for me, especially in 3D modelling. I've never modelled that much stuff before.

I finally have somewhat of a clear vision of what game I'm making. (Gotta confess, I DID NOT HAVE A CLUE BEFORE)
The game mechanics, the artstyle, the overall vibe, etc.

I'd describe the current state of the game as a huge pile of random separate pieces. Lots of them somewhat finished, lots still need work. The biggest task would be to assemble them into one, playable product.

So, basically, full RELEASE IN 2025, BABY!!! (if I don't get hit by a truck or something)

Also it would be a shame not to point out all the attention I've started getting this year. Big thanks to SoariN and Sournale!

Now to the bad news:

Once again, gotta confess. I initially planned on releasing ST:DZ on this very day. But, as now became usual, I kinda missed my deadlines entirely.

Even though this year I've done A LOT more stuff than on any year before, it still wasn't enough. Partially because I have big issues concentrating on work; Partially because I'm now a college student and I now have to actually spend time on my tasks so that I don't get kicked out, what a shock. I didn't account for that.

Although I still think that brain fog is my main problem here.

However, I've come too far to give up on this, so I'm gonna release the game eventually, come hell or high water.

Happy birthday, Slendytubbies. Love y'all.

Here's some of the things I've been working on: 1) The procedurally animated stylized skybox shader I've spent months working on 2) A sneakpeek of the beach location (WIP) (tho as you probably noticed I haven't made a water shader yet)

Madeline is the main protagonist of the mountain climbing platformer, Celeste. The game has been praised for its visuals, gameplay, and introspective narrative. The game's creator Maddy Thorson confirmed that Madeline is trans in 2020.

Happy october, 12th!

Dive into the cozy post-apocalyptic open world of Critter Cove!

Gentleman Rat Studios (@GR-Rob ) describe it as “a little bit Animal Crossing, a little bit Stardew Valley. Maybe even a little bit Windwaker, too."

Over the hills and far away... Teletubbies... ...Are probably posting more sneakpeeks to whatever it is they're doing than yours truly. Anyway, here's one!

Mae Borowski is the main character of Night in the Woods! It's an adventure game that tells the story of her return to her hometown of Possum Springs. She was confirmed as canonically pan in a social media post by the game's creator Scott Benson.

"Our work is never over" they said.
