Greetings Tusslers! Another non-feature Feature Friday (three in a row!) but now I’m gonna tell you why.
We’ve got too much stuff to do! There’s a lot of big features being worked on, and there’s only so few of us, so we just can’t get things done on a weekly basis. That’s where you come in! We’re looking for some new blood to help get development back on track! Here are some of the positions we’re in need of.
UI Artist
Let’s face it, TUSSLE’s menus and icons look like they were made in paint. Which would make sense because they were! (Well, Paint.NET, but that’s still technically called “paint” so I’ll let that one slide)
I’m no artist, and while we’ve got great environmental and particle artists, we’re a bit lacking in the UI department! What we’re looking for is someone who can follow a rough (really rough) guideline and make some menu graphics and iconography. An ideal candidate would be someone who can incorporate designs from other team members, but with enough confidence to know when to diverge from the design and be able to defend their aesthetic choices.
The long and short of it is that we want someone who can take this preschool-level character select design and make an actually cool menu out of it:
Programmer
TUSSLE is made in Python, using Pygame as the main library. If you know python, we could use some help. Some of the features that we’re working on that might be a bit beyond my current abilities involve network programming or AI, but even if these aren’t your disciplines, we’re always having trouble with something that we could use help with!
Character Artist
Now that the character builder is progressing, and we’ve got a handy design document to describe how character should look… but no way to make the sprites! There’s lots of characters that would be great fits for TUSSLE, so if you’re a character animator, we’re looking for people like you!
How to Apply
If you want to help out, you can apply in many ways. You can send an email to [email protected], or send us an ask, or send a modmail on our subreddit, or you could quietly whisper it into your pillow at night. If you want to find us, you should be able to find us basically anywhere. If you could, please include a link to some reference material, but don’t worry, this isn’t a job application or anything. Just a link to a blog or a github or something is fine.
