illagus 2.2 update
Welcome to the next content update for illagus. The main goal for this update was to create a system that allows players to focus on specific aspects of their character and artifacts, while removing the parts that they don't like. Build your character the way you want and become stronger than ever before.
Your previous save file should still be functional and you should be able to continue any previous run. There is a chance that you'll end up in a different room than where you left off, but going through the portal should fix this.
New Mechanic: Upgradable Artifacts - Every single artifact can be upgraded twice. The first update will mostly be an increase in the base power of the artifact, while the second upgrade is a choice between 2 options.
New Mechanic: Sellable Artifacts - Do you have an artifact that doesn't really work with the way you are currently playing your character? Why not sell it for some gold.
New Blacksmith NPC - Interact with the blacksmith that will occasionally visit you to upgrade one of your artifacts, or go visit him at his workplace to sell one of your unwanted artifacts for 100 gold.
New Ashlands Choices: Challenge bosses from different areas, fight lost adventurers, gain a cursed artifact, summon the blacksmith to upgrade an artifact or battle against the boss of the Ashlands.
If you encounter the new blacksmith npc before you have an artifact to upgrade, the npc will give you an artifact instead of upgrading one.
Rebalanced the base function of a number of artifacts in line with the new upgrade system.
Adjusted the artifact drop rates around the board.
Reduced the chance for similar choices to appear in the Ashlands.
Slightly reduced the overall difficulty of the final encounter.
Fixed several graphical glitches during the final encounter.
Removed the screen shake from the explosions that were being created by the "Haunted Ammunition" and "Lit Dynamite" artifacts.
Fixed a bug where the total amount of rooms could reset after dying.
Fixed a bug where the best completion time was not being recorded properly.
Fixed a bug where the "Gold is Power" artifact would give the wrong amount of bonus damage and would also not remove the damage bonus when the gold was used.
Fixed a bug where the listed price and actual price of the arrow range increase in the shop were different.
Several other bug fixes
While this update is released a bit later than I would have liked, I'm happy with the overall changes to the game and I hope you are too.
While working on this update I've also been redoing a lot of the earlier written code to allow for something that I have been wanting to add to the game for a very long time now. The scope of this is bigger than any of the updates so far, but I believe I can get it done. My aim is to release at least a major part of this new content before the end of January, but no promises :)
