Unlike any indie game I've done before, I have this goal with Insectile that the maps should feel "cute" even when zoomed out. At some point, I'd love to do a time lapse of me building one of these rooms :)
There's a Mario 64 interview where the developers claimed they wanted the avatar to feel like a little hamster scurrying around. Given Insectile's unique scale, I'm trying to capture that same cute and frantic feeling... just with puzzle blocks, too :)
Sorry for the inactivity. I've been drawing moldy fruits and vegetables. Tasty! In all seriousness, progress on the Insectile demo is going great! It's just all stuff that I'm not quite ready to show yet. Stay tuned!
Our 2024 Advent Calendar has opened! Day 28: @Silentfaith is a great Creator and comic artist who also codes fan games! Accept the quest and give them a follow to get Coins and a seasonal sticker!
Working on portraits for key characters today. I think these will add a LOT of expression to text boxes. Who looks better?

Ooooh I'm so excited. I'm starting to get a lot of rooms for the demo finalized. Sadly, it's too spoiler-y to post full level designs, so all I can share are these super zoomed out and incomprehensible shots of the Godot editor. Sorry :(
I've been hard at work on level design sketches the past couple weeks. Maybe I'll post some soon so you all can peek at my process! Stay tuned :)
